Gattuso: 'Insigne starts if he's 100 per cent'

Gennaro Gattuso knows Napoli need a ‘great performance to get a result’ at Camp Nou on Saturday and said Lorenzo Insigne will only start against Barcelona ‘if he feels 100 per cent ready’.

Napoli prepare to face the Blaugrana in the last 16 of the Champions League tomorrow and arrive in Catalonia after a 1-1 result in the first leg at the San Paolo.

Report: Insigne will start in Barcelona

The latest reports from the Napoli camp suggest not only is Lorenzo Insigne available, he’s expected to start against Barcelona tomorrow.

The first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie ended 1-1 at the Stadio San Paolo in February and the decider is on Saturday at Camp Nou.

Insigne had been a major doubt, having pulled up with a thigh and groin injury during the final Serie A game of the season against Lazio just under a week ago.

He had bruising to the tendon connecting the thigh to the groin, along with a slight muscular problem.

Insigne closer to Barca comeback

Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne is steadily improving in the race against time to be ready for Saturday’s Champions League decider with Barcelona.

The forward limped off in pain after a groin injury during the final minutes of the closing Serie A fixture with Lazio at the weekend.

An initial diagnosis found no serious lesions, but bruising to the tendon connecting the thigh to the bone represents the most painful aspect.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Insigne is intensifying his training routine in a bid to test his fitness levels.
