'Insigne obvious for Euros'

Lorenzo Insigne's agent is not surprised by the Napoli player's call-up for the Azzurri: 'It was obvious all along'.

In spite of some past disagreements with Coach Antonio Conte, the 24-year-old striker managed the list of Azzurri called up for a Euro 2016 training camp.

“The call-up was obvious all along,” his agent Antonio Ottaiano told Canale 9. “I can't imagine Insigne out of the group that will be called up for France.

Insigne cut from Euro squad?

Antonio Conte is set to have an Italy training retreat on May 18-21, but a return to 3-5-2 could cut Lorenzo Insigne.

The Coach is preparing for the tournament in France this summer, which begins against Belgium on June 13.

He is expected to call a training retreat at Coverciano from May 18 to 21, obviously not including Juventus and Milan players involved in the Coppa Italia Final on May 21.

‘Insigne can be Napoli’s Totti’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent says 'we hope he can become Napoli’s Totti, the renewal isn’t important but he must become a cornerstone of the project.’

The 24-year-old is a product of the Vesuviani youth system and has had an impressive season with the San Paolo outfit, scoring 12 goals in 33 Serie A appearances.

Agent Fabio Andreotti is planning a long-term future for the forward at the club, believing he can become a similar figure to Francesco Totti at Roma.

Insigne agent: ‘Renewal? Not now…’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent says a Napoli renewal will only be discussed at “the end of the season”.

The 24-year-old has been a key man for the Vesuviani this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists to help his team to within three points of the Serie A summit.

As a Neapolitan native, the Italian international grew up supporting the club, but one of his representatives says there’s no rush to discuss a new contract.

The veteran Coach was interviewed today ahead of the Azzurri’s international friendly against Germany in Munich tonight, which kicks off at 19:45 UK time.

“Am I worried about the Euros with Conte leaving? No, because the players are a little spoiled now but they know their earnings grow by doing well for the national team,” Trap told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Conte sticks with front-three?

Antonio Conte looks set to stick with a 3-4-3 shape for Italy’s friendly with Germany tomorrow.

The Azzurri deployed an attacking trident in the draw with Spain, winning plaudits for their performance in the match.

During this morning’s training session, the first part of which was open to the Press, the CT divided the squad into two teams.

Sky reports that one of these is likely to be the one which starts against Germany, likely the 3-4-3 shape with Lorenzo Insigne, Simone Zaza and Federico Bernardeschi up-front.
