Saviano: 'Insigne and Zlatan in Gomorrah!'

Roberto Saviano is a big Napoli fan and said he could cast Lorenzo Insigne and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Gomorrah. “They’d be perfect!”

First a book, then film and now an internationally-acclaimed series, Gomorrah covers the organised crime syndicates in Naples, commonly known as the Camorra.

“I really like Maurizio Sarri, as he’s rough, disciplined, almost military. The Coach he reminds me of the most is Zdenek Zeman,” Saviano told Sky Sport Italia.

Insigne: 'I only ever wanted Napoli'

Lorenzo Insigne is enjoying the new-look Napoli and commits his future to the club. “I love this jersey and these club colours.”

The Partenopei are temporarily top of the table awaiting today’s results after beating Bologna 3-1 last night.

“We give our all in every game and will try to go as far as possible,” Insigne told Rai Sport and Sky Sport Italia.

M&M flavour of the month

Napoli needn’t worry after losing Gonzalo Higuain as Dries Mertens and Arkadiusz Milik have already struck up a sweet partnership, explains Livio Caferoglu.

Napoli’s decision to reinvest less than half of the €94m they recouped for Gonzalo Higuain raised eyebrows, given the striker had accounted for almost 50 percent of their goal output in Serie A last season. More so was the profile of player they had targeted in Arkadiusz Milik, a player whose reputation rode on the back of a single campaign and had been criticised for lean spells.

Two games in, however, and the Partenopei may have been right all along. Right in also giving Dries Mertens a long-awaited chance to establish himself as the other M in M&M.

Insigne renewal still distant

Napoli still can't find a deal for the renewal of Lorenzo Insigne, even as everyone else will get new contracts.

The Neapolitan fantasista rose in prestige enormously last year, and he feels entitled to a raise in his €1.1m salary.

Unfortunately talks didn't really work out over the summer, and he is not in a very strong position right now, as his condition of form appears to be lagging behind that of his alternative Dries Mertens.

Ventura should return to roots

With Italy set to play France under a new Coach, Mina Rzouki asks what Giampiero Ventura should keep from Antonio Conte’s era.

Embarrassed, deflated, beaten, Juventus were shambolic when a certain Antonio Conte came to town. Having finished in seventh place for two seasons in a row, the Old Lady of Turin had lost her glow, the absolute right to dominate and intimidate. Conte may have once been her Captain, a heroic player who fought for every win, but what was the 4-2-4 man going to bring to a side that needed so much bravery and skill to succeed?

Coping with Neapolitan pressure

From ball-boy to star, Luca Cetta delves into the relationship between Lorenzo Insigne and Napoli.

Roma President James Pallotta would have heard about the adulation iconic captain Francesco Totti receives in the capital. But seeing it first-hand remains something else.“Francesco can’t even take a walk in Rome. It’s crazy! If I go out for lunch with him somewhere and I think we managed to slip away, by the time we’re done we come out and find at least 120 people.”

That level of passion and admiration from the Giallorossi faithful is special. What he represents is exceptional, especially in the context of the modern game.

Napoli: Mertens as false nine?

Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri is considering deploying Dries Mertens as a direct replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, playing as a false nine.

The Belgian saved the Partenopei from a humiliating first defeat in this season's opener against Pescara, as he came on in the second half and scored twice.

Pundits have speculated that Mertens, in his current condition of form, may have overtaken Lorenzo Insigne as the preferred starter on the left flank.

Mertens pushes Insigne towards bench?

Dries Mertens' spectacular condition of form could push a faded Lorenzo Insigne towards the Napoli bench.

The Belgian replaced the Italian yesterday in a very traditional move for Coach Maurizio Sarri, in the second half of the first Serie A game against Pescara.

With the team trailing by two goals, Mertens utterly revolutionised the play of the Neapoletan side as he came in and scored twice in three minutes, rescuing a draw.

PSG after Napoli's Insigne

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly have an interest in Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne, who has been grumbling about his wages.

The 25-year-old's agent declared in a rather fiery interview that the striker could depart the club if an appropriate raise isn't offered, mentioning that many offers have already been made.

One such offer could have come from Paris, as Le10Sport relates of an interest by the club from the French capital.

Agent: ‘Inter love Insigne’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent reveals Inter are “in love” with the Napoli midfielder but “right now I can’t say more”.

The Italian international is from Naples, and came up through the Partenopei youth system, but his representative has warned he could leave San Paolo.

Inter are one of the clubs who have been linked, and the agent confirms that the Nerazzurri like Insigne.

“Inter have always shown interest,” Antonio Ottaiano told FCInter1908.
