Agent: 'Insigne worth Higuain'

Lorenzo Insigne “is worth as much as Gonzalo Higuain, so Napoli have to prove it with his contract renewal,” said his agent.

The home-grown striker has turned down the initial offer of a new deal, plunging his future into doubt amid interest from Arsenal and Inter.

“The negotiations with Napoli continue and like every important contract this process is made of a series of steps,” Antonio Ottaiano told Radio Sportiva.

Milik given Napoli 99 shirt

Napoli have left the Number 9 jersey unassigned, as Arkadiusz Milik takes 99, but David Lopez is heading for the exit.

The Partenopei released their squad numbers for the 2016-17 season and nobody has yet taken on Gonzalo Higuain’s Number 9.

New buy Milik will wear 99, while Emanuele Giaccherini takes 4, Piotr Zielinski 20 and Lorenzo Insigne’s younger brother Roberto is given 94.

PSG join Insigne race?

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly among the clubs interested in Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne.

The attacking midfielder’s agent dropped a bombshell this week, declaring that the Italian international may leave his boyhood club due to a contract dispute.

While PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has claimed that there will be no new arrivals, CalcioNapoli24 is reporting that the French side are among those interested in Insigne.

Sky Sport Italia claim Inter will go for Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne if they fail to secure Gabigol from Santos.

The Italy international’s agent complained bitterly this week at the wages on offer for a contract renewal and criticised the ‘project’ at the club after Gonzalo Higuain’s move to Juventus.

Arsenal had been the leading contender for Insigne’s signature if he were to leave his hometown club.

Insigne talks stall on wages

Lorenzo Insigne’s Napoli renewal has reportedly stalled because of a wage dispute.

In a bombshell interview today, the playmaker’s agent revealed his client could leave the club, having spent his whole career with the Partenopei, aside from a loan spell with Pescara.

Now Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the problem has arisen because of a dispute over wages, with Fabio Andreotti admitting that the contract on offer “doesn’t satisfy us”.
