‘Insigne turned down English teams’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent says his client “turned down English teams who would have showered him with money” to stay with Napoli.

A number of young Italian talents have moved to the English Premier League from Serie A youth teams, including Giuseppe Rossi, Arturo Lupoli and Federico Macheda.

Speaking to Radio Punto Zero, Insigne’s representative says his client could have followed a similar path, but preferred to remain in Naples.

‘Insigne chants are racism’

Maurizio Sarri’s agent says Verona fans' treatment of Napoli playmaker Lorenzo Insigne was “racism”.

The playmaker was the subject of whistles and chanting during the Partenopei’s 2-0 win yesterday, in which he scored.

Insigne was born and brought up in Naples, with elements of the north of Italy having a history of discrimination against those from the South.

Sarri: 'Napoli not really top'

Maurizio Sarri still refuses to discuss Napoli’s Scudetto chances, but thanks Lorenzo Insigne for a touchline hug.

The Partenopei temporarily shot to the top of the table after a 2-0 victory away to Hellas Verona.

“Sensations do not bring points. We’ve been unbeaten for 16 competitive games now, but there are still teams moving faster than us,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Agent: ‘Insigne snub misunderstood’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent insists his client not being called by Italy was “misinterpreted” by the media.

The Napoli playmaker was not called-up for the friendlies with Belgium and Romania, with some suggesting that the snub was retribution for pulling out of a previous squad with injury.

“It’s normal, that loving his profession, the national team is the pinnacle for him [Insigne] just like any player,” Fabio Andreotti explained to TuttoNapoli.

Italy lack guarantees

The two friendlies against Belgium and Romania were far from reassuring, writes Edo Dalmonte.

It’s been almost 18 months since Antonio Conte took over as Italy CT from Cesare Prandelli following a catastrophic World Cup. With only a handful of games left before the Azzurri travel to France, it’s fair to ask ourselves what we know about this team. So far, the answer is very little, and the Azzurri’s 3-1 defeat to Belgium and 2-2 draw against Romania provided us with more questions than answers.
