Nothing left of Sarri's Napoli

Maurizio Sarri and Napoli together felt like a fairytale, but as they reunite on Sunday, Tommaso Adami fears they’ll never find that chemistry again.

Once upon a time there was Naples, a city whose people were so in love with football that the God of the sport himself decided to descend from the heavens to join their team. He took them to heights they'd never even fathomed and brought the most beautiful trophies the city had ever seen. But one day, sadly, he had to leave.

Mario Rui: 'Sarri deserves nice reception'

Mario Rui has encouraged the San Paolo to give Maurizio Sarri a “very nice reception” when the former coach returns to Napoli as the Juventus coach.

Sarri brought some good times to the Neapolitans and left for Chelsea in the Premier League after 148 games at the helm of the Partenopei.

He returned to Italy last summer, to take over rivals Juventus, but Mario Rui goes a long way back with the coach and said he hopes he will be “welcome” on Sunday.

Napoli combine coaches for success

Napoli turned a corner in the Coppa Italia by blending Gennaro Gattuso’s grit with Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical versatility, argues Kaustubh Pandey.

The Coppa Italia clash at the Stadio San Paolo could have been very different, if some crucial moments could have gone the other way. While Napoli did run out victors who will go through to the semi-finals of the competition against either Inter Milan or Fiorentina, they barely deserved to win the game by a tight 1-0 margin. They had to ride their luck big time and beat the team that has been adept at scoring late goals this season.

Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne has recorded a video message apologising to a young fan seen crying during their defeat to Fiorentina.

The child’s tears in the stands as he watched his beloved team fall to their third consecutive Serie A defeat became an emblem for their current status.

Today, captain Insigne released a video message on Instagram for the supporter, who was identified as Mario.
