Duvan Zapata 'dream come true'

Udinese striker Duvan Zapata experienced “a dream come true” after making his debut with Colombia.

The 25-year-old striker has scored nine goals with three assists in 30 competitive games for Udinese this season.

He got to play 27 minutes of Colombia’s 1-0 victory over Bolivia in the World Cup qualifiers.

“I am happy, it’s a dream come true that I’ve had for a long time,” said the forward who is still owned by Napoli.

Muriel suffers thigh strain

Luis Muriel has been diagnosed with a lesion to the femoral bicep in his right thigh, confirmed Sampdoria.

The striker picked up the injury during international duty with Colombia, limping off in their 1-0 win over Bolivia.

Muriel returned to Italy today and underwent tests at the Laboratorio Albaro in Genoa, accompanied by Sampdoria medical staff.

A statement confirmed he has been diagnosed with a lesion to the femoral bicep in his right thigh.

Muriel: 'I knew it was bad'

Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel fears the worst after limping off on international duty for Colombia. “I felt a tear and knew straight away it was bad.”

The forward had returned to the Cafeteros line-up after rediscovering his form this season, but lasted only 34 minutes in the 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Bolivia.

“I am really sad, as I was playing well and in really good shape, but this injury forced me to leave the field,” said Muriel.

Duvan Zapata gets debut Colombia call

Several Serie A-based players have been called up by Colombia for their World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Ecuador, including debutant Duvan Zapata.

The Cafeteros host Bolivia on March 23 and visit Ecuador on March 28.

There is a debut call for Napoli-owned forward Duvan Zapata, who is currently on a two-year loan deal with Udinese.

The 25-year-old has no senior caps for Colombia, but did score one goal in five games at Under-20 level.

Muriel: 'My weight always a problem'

Luis Muriel looks back over his career, why he’s found his form at Sampdoria, comparisons with Ronaldo and “the cross I bear is my weight.”

The Colombian striker has been painfully inconsistent during his Serie A career, never quite making the big step up, but recent form has earned him strong links with Inter for next season.

“I came to Europe very early, when I was only 18 years old, and I frankly didn’t expect it then,” Muriel told the Lega Serie A site.

Udinese sell Armero to Bahia

Udinese have officially sold Colombia international Pablo Armero to Brazilian club Bahia.

The left-back passed a medical today and Bahia announced the deal via Twitter.

It is a one-season contract for the 30-year-old, with the option of a renewal for another term.

Armero has played in Brazil before, while in recent years he had spells at Napoli, West Ham United, Milan and Flamengo.

Muriel: 'This is my year'

Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel wants to end his reputation for inconsistency. “I let people down, but this is the right year for me.”

The Colombia international has always flattered to deceive and he’s well aware of it.
