Napoli to purchase Ospina

Napoli are ready to take up their purchase option from Arsenal on David Ospina, even if he doesn’t make 30 appearances.

The goalkeeper arrived on loan for €1m in mid-August, during the final days of the transfer window, with an option to buy for a further €3.5m.

That would become mandatory if he played in 30 competitive games for the Partenopei during the season.

According to La Repubblica newspaper, Napoli have decided they will purchase Ospina on a permanent basis, even if he doesn’t meet the criteria.

Juve target James out for 2018

Juventus interest in Bayern Munich’s Colombia international James Rodriguez could be on hold after a serious knee injury.

There had been repeated rumours of a possible January or June swoop, particularly so he could reunite with good friend and former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, the Colombian will be out of action for several weeks after suffering a partial tear of his lateral collateral ligament in the left knee.

It’s now unlikely James Rodriguez will be able to play again before the end of 2018.

Icardi: Goals will come

Inter striker Mauro Icardi has urged Argentina to stick with him after a fifth cap without a goal. “Sooner or later it’ll come.”

Icardi completed 85 minutes of Argentina’s 0-0 draw with Colombia on Tuesday evening, and the Inter captain – who was left out of his country’s World Cup squad – made it clear he was ‘committed’ to the Albiceleste.

“We had a good game and turned the national team into a great group,” he said after the match.

Argentina rely on Icardi-Dybala

Mauro Icardi and Paulo Dybala are expected to start together for Argentina in a friendly against Colombia.

The Inter striker arrived at the training camp carrying a muscular problem, whereas the Juventus star was late due to personal matters, reportedly so he could testify in the contract dispute against his former agent.

Coach Lionel Scaloni plans eight changes from the starting XI that beat Guatemala, a game where Fiorentina forward Giovanni Simeone scored on his senior Argentina debut.
