On Tuesday afternoon, Serie A sports judge Gerardo Mastrandrea returned his verdict in the racism case involving Acerbi and Juan Jesus, acquitting the Inter defender due to a lack of concrete evidence regarding his alleged racist comments.

The news hasn’t gone down well with Napoli fans nor many in the wider footballing world, with a number of fans frustrated at the lack of action in the fight against racism in Serie A. Others have come to Acerbi’s defence, highlighting the abuse sent his and his family’s way despite the lack of evidence.

Calciomercato.com highlights how Napoli ultras have come together to support Juan Jesus following Mastrandrea’s ruling, raising a banner outside the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona that reads: ‘Hypocritical system… Acerbi is your emblem!”
