“There’s no referee who can be against it,” he told La Repubblica.

Eleven Sports backs down on 3pm games

Eleven Sports, which broadcasts Serie A in the UK and Ireland, has backed down in the fight over showing games on Saturday afternoons.

There is a rule in England and Scotland that Saturday matches cannot be shown on television between 14.45 and 17.15, to encourage people to attend matches at the traditional 15.00 kick-off time.

Eleven recently broadcast two La Liga matches inside that time slot and planned to do the same for Serie A, but has now backed down.
