ADL: Calcio is not working

Aurelio De Laurentiis has called on Italian football to protect clubs from financial ruin and to remove limitations on non-EU players.

Serie A open to vanishing spray

President of the Referees’ Association Marcello Nicchi backs the use of vanishing spray and video replays.

The World Cup in Brazil has seen innovation with the introduction of goal line technology and vanishing spray, used to keep the wall back for a free kick.

“I was wrong about the spray: I saw in the World Cup that it really does work,” said AIA President Nicchi.

Pinilla ‘to leave Serie A’

Cagliari forward Mauricio Pinilla has confirmed he will be leaving Sardinia in order to move to a club outside Italy.

The 30-year-old is currently playing at the World Cup with Chile but was yesterday questioned by reporters about his club future.

Serie A to vote on TV rights

The Lega Serie A will meet from today to decide on the allocation of television rights for 2015-18, as uncertainty remains between the broadcasters.

The television broadcast rights for the Italian top flight for the seasons 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 came up for auction last week, split into five packages based on the following:

- Satellite broadcast rights for home and away matches for eight teams including Inter, Juventus, Milan and Napoli, total 248 matches [Package A]

Serie A & Supercoppa dates set

It has been announced that the Italian Supercoppa fixture between Juventus and Napoli will take place on December 23.

While a venue for the encounter is yet to be confirmed, the usual season curtain raiser has been moved upon request of the Partenopei in order to allow them to concentrate fully on their Champions League qualifying matches.

Agent: Serie A can’t compete

Ciro Immobile’s agent believes Serie A clubs are currently unable to compete for Europe’s and the World’s top players.

The 24-year-old Italian forward opted to join German side Borussia Dortmund this summer rather than remain in his homeland, where he was co-owned by Torino and Juventus.

Co-ownership era to end

The co-ownership of players within the Italian Leagues will be sounded out, it has been confirmed.

The peninsula is the only remaining country in which two teams are currently still allowed to share any particular player’s contract.

Speaking to reporters, Italian Football Association [FIGC] President Giancarlo Abete explained the reasoning behind the governing bodies’ decision.
