Marchisio: 'Juve in no trouble'

Claudio Marchisio believes there are no problems with Juventus, even if Serie A is now “more competitive” with Inter rivalling them.

Marchisio, who recently retired from football, was in Rome picking up the Andrea Fortunato award, named in memory of the ex-Juve defender who tragically died of leukaemia at the age of 23 in 1995.

“Serie A is more interesting, but I don’t see Juve in any trouble,” he told reporters.

VAR a mess, admits Ceferin

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has confessed that he isn’t a fan of VAR, calling it “a mess”.

Video assistant referees have been gradually introduced to football over the last few years, but Ceferin admits he doesn’t like the technology.

“It is a mess. I don’t think the tolerance or one or two centimeters for offside, for example, is enough,” he told The Mirror.

“We will propose a change to IFAB. And also for our referees.

Paratici: 'Miha close to Juve job'

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was close to getting the Juventus job earlier in his career, reveals sporting director Fabio Paratici.

Mihajlovic restored his reputation as a top Serie A coach last season, guiding Bologna to safety after failed spells in charge of Milan and Torino.

And Paratici says it was a “relief” to see the Serb back in a dugout.

“It was very nice to see him on the bench, a relief,” he told Tuttosport. “I am a friend of Sinisa’s, a very good friend.

Paratici: 'Good luck Conte'

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici admits he was “affected” by Antonio Conte’s decision to join rivals Inter.

Inter have started the season very well under Conte, who won silverware with Juve as a player and coach, and Paratici says it took some getting used to.

“A little bit, at the beginning it affected me more, now I’m getting used to it,” he told Tuttosport.

“I still have ties to Conte; we won our three first titles with him. Juventus owe him a lot, both as a player and as a coach.”
