Lazio injury crisis escalates

The injury crisis at Lazio is escalating rapidly, with 10 players on the treatment table, including Lucas Leiva, Luiz Felipe and Luis Alberto.

Simone Inzaghi’s men are the only Italian side remaining in three competitions this season, but it is starting to take its toll.

After the 1-0 home defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League on Thursday, they picked up new injury problems for defender Luiz Felipe – who was making his comeback – Wallace, Marco Parolo and Luis Alberto.

Leiva to delay Lazio comeback

Lucas Leiva looks like he will have to postpone his Lazio comeback again, as he interrupted the training session 20 minutes early.

However, he pulled up during today’s training session at the Formello ground, suggesting his thigh injury is not fully healed.

Leiva has played only one game since October 25, in which he aggravated the existing adductor issue.

Lucas Leiva doubt against Milan

Lazio midfielder Lucas Leiva is unlikely to be fit in time to face Milan on Sunday, but Felipe Caicedo has fully recovered.

This is a head-to-head for European ambitions and there are numerous problems in the Rossoneri camp, including Gonzalo Higuain’s suspension.

According to the latest reports out of Rome, Lucas Leiva has not sustained any lesions to the muscle, but it would be a big risk to play him on Sunday evening.

It’s more likely that Milan Badelj or Danilo Cataldi will take over the midfield reins.

According to RadioSei, Lucas isn’t expected to return for at least a month with an injury of his own, with the Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that he’s targeting the Milan game on November 25.
