Serie C: Bari to sue if Carpi promoted

Bari President Luigi De Laurentiis has already threatened to sue if Carpi are given the fourth and final promotion spot from Serie C into Serie B.

The Serie C meeting today reached a unanimous agreement that the 2019-20 season cannot be completed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The proposal that will be put forward to the FIGC includes a block on relegation, with the three regional group winners – Monza, Vicenza and Reggina – promoted into Serie B.

Serie C 2019-20 season is over

The 2019-20 Serie C season is over, as the clubs agreed to terminate it here, promoting Monza, Vicenza, Reggina and probably Carpi to Serie B, while there will be no relegations.

Today’s Lega Pro meeting reached a unanimous conclusion, as the coronavirus pandemic makes it impossible for the clubs to follow all medical protocols required to resume in safety.

Coppa: Verona out, Cittadella thriller

There were surprises in the Coppa Italia Third Round, as Hellas Verona went out to Cremonese, Empoli taken to extra time, a six-goal Carpi thriller and prolific Frosinone.

Newly-promoted Hellas Verona saw their Coppa Italia campaign grind to a halt at the first hurdle.

Alan Empereur had put the hosts in front at the Bentegodi with a powerful volley on a corner, but deep into stoppages Cremonese equalised through a Michele Castagnetti tap-in following chaotic defending.

Coppa: Monza to face Fiorentina

Silvio Berlusconi’s Monza shocked Serie B side Benevento to set up a tie with Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia third round.

Monza won a seven-goal thriller, surviving a late penalty to beat Benevento 4-3, and face Fiorentina in the next round.

Feralpisalo, Pisa, Perugia, Salernitana, Venezia, Crotone, Spezia, Sudtirol, Cremonese and Imolese, meanwhile, all secured Serie A ties.

So did Chievo, although the Flying Donkeys needed a penalty shootout to avoid a giant-killing at the hands of third-tier Ravenna.

Official: Carpi loan Udinese teen

Serie B side Carpi have officially loaned Udinese midfielder Mamadou Coulibaly until the end of the season.

Coulibaly - who turns 19 next month - made headlines during the 2016-17 campaign, when he went from fleeing Senegal on a boat and living rough to eventually playing in Serie A for the relegated Pescara.

He joined Udinese in the summer of 2017 but stayed with Pescara last season and has yet to make a senior appearance for the Zebrette.

Goalkeeper Scuffet is next out the door, as Sky Sport Italia claim he has given the all-clear for a loan spell in Turkey with Kasimpasa.

Now at Eintracht Frankfurt, the 31-year-old was owned by Napoli from 2014 to 2017, but spent much of that on loan to Carpi and Chievo.

He ultimately made only 36 competitive appearances for the Partenopei, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Carpi could terminate Machach loan

Carpi could reportedly send Zinédine Machach back to Napoli, after a fight with two teammates in training.

The French midfielder has been sent on a season-long loan to the Biancorossi, but that could end before the Serie B campaign has even started.

According to the Gazzetta di Modena, the 22-year-old started a fight with two teammates, including a youth player, in training on Tuesday.

No official sanction has yet been handed down, but Carpi are seriously considering terminating his loan.
