Serie A Underappreciated XI

With transfer records shattered this summer, Ramez Nathan lists 11 Serie A players who ought to be worth more.

The producers of this season’s soap opera seem to have missed out on a wealth of talent from top playmakers, goal scorers and ruthless defenders not on anybody’s wish list this summer.

The fact that he is 34 years old might be the biggest reason no team approached the goalkeeper. With five clean sheets in the final six fixtures for Crotone last season, Cordaz was the main man that sent Davide Nicola cycling back to his home town in Turin.

The Orobici will compete in the Europa League group stages after achieving an unlikely fourth-place finish under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Key to that success was Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez, who scored 16 goals and provided 10 assists in his 37 Serie A appearances.

Gomez signed a new contract earlier this month, and it appears he’ll be entertaining fans just as much in the coming season.
