Petagna makes Atalanta Euro pledge

Atalanta striker Andrea Petagna believes they can beat Napoli today and pledges to bleach his hair if they qualify for Europe.

It kicks off at the Stadio San Paolo today at 17.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“We must be very focused and aggressive, preventing Napoli from getting into their usual rhythm, just as we did last time out,” Petagna told the Corriere dello Sport.

Gomez: ‘Atalanta believe in Europe’

Papu Gomez declares Atalanta “believe in Europe” but if so “you have to sign eight or nine players”.

The Orobici have been the surprise of the season, and currently sit fourth in Serie A, only six points off a Champions League place.

“We believe in Europe,” Gomez admitted to Gazzetta della Sport.

“Even with just three points in three games we’re still in there. The most difficult [game] is this one, with Napoli at San Paolo.

‘Kessie has been sold to Roma’

Alejandro Gomez believes Atalanta teammate Franck Kessié has been “sold to Roma”.

The midfielder was heavily linked with the Giallorossi in the January transfer window, but ultimately a deal couldn’t be done.

Kessié’s agent then claimed that there was never any possibility of a deal, but the Orobici’s captain things the 20-year-old will move to Stadio Olimpico.

Gomez: ‘Waiting for a big club’

Atalanta captain Alejandro Gomez admits he’s “waiting for an important offer” with “interest from Roma and Milan”.

The attacking midfielder has caught the eye with his performances for the Orobici this season, and admits he’ll probably move on in the summer.

“It’s been seven years since I left Argentina and I’m in good shape, I feel like I’m a more complete player,” Gomez said on Radio Closs Continental.

Gomez double inspires Atalanta

Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez continues to inspire Atalanta with a sensational early brace to give Cagliari no chance.

The little Argentine scored two goals in Bergamo, one of them a stunning curler into the far top corner that swept away the cobwebs.

Cagliari rarely seemed to trouble the hosts, who are marching towards a possible Europa League place.

Gomez hails Atalanta debutants

Atalanta star Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez praised 17-year-old debutants Alessandro Bastoni and Filippo Melegoni.

Coach Gian Piero Gasperini picked them both, born in 1999, to start the 1-0 victory over Sampdoria this evening.

“It’s a very important victory, especially as Milan and Lazio lost this weekend,” Gomez told Sky Sport Italia.

Milan plan Gomez move

Milan reportedly met with the agent of Atalanta’s Papu Gomez, but it’s unlikely he’ll arrive in January.

The winger has been linked with a move away from the Orobici, with Roma also reported to be interested.

According to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani met with the player’s agent on Monday, as he seeks a deal for the summer.

Galliani must now talk with the incoming Chinese owners to understand if the funds will be available to get a deal done.
