Roberto D’Aversa praised Parma for a “fundamental” win over Genoa, but joked it “would not have gone well” for Gervinho if that miss had proved costly.

Juraj Kucka got the only goal of the game in a chaotic set play routine, but Gervinho wasted a golden opportunity on the counter when firing over rather than passing in stoppages.

Gervinho suffers thigh strain

Gervinho is expected to be out of action for three to four weeks after suffering a lesion to the right femoral bicep.

The Parma striker went off at half-time during the defeat to Milan on Sunday.

A statement from the club confirmed he was diagnosed with a Grade I lesion to the right femoral bicep.

This type of injury usually requires three to four weeks out, so it’s likely we won’t see the Ivorian again until 2019.
