Juve to sign 'new Varane'

Juventus are close to signing Amiens and France Under-17 defender Felix Nzouango, dubbed the ‘new Raphael Varane’.

L’Equipe reports Nzouango is on the verge of becoming a Juve player, with the Bianconeri paying Amiens €3m for his services.

The 17-year-old has yet to make any senior appearances at club level but is being tipped for stardom.

He is a full U17 international France and, for his reading of the game and ball-playing ability, has been compared to Real Madrid’s Varane.

Inter target Sarr leaves Nice

Inter target Malang Sarr is available on a free transfer after Nice announced the defender’s departure.

A statement on Nice’s official website says Sarr is ‘now preparing for a new challenge’.

It comes after Inter were reported to be in talks to sign Sarr, offering him a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old is a full France Under-21 international who can play at centre-back or left-back.

'Osimhen would be Napoli superstar'

Lille President Gerard Lopez claims Victor Osimhen would become a ‘superstar’ if he joined Napoli, who are ‘at the same level as Atletico Madrid’.

Osimhen is leaving Lille this summer after an 18-goal debut season for the Ligue 1 side, which also yielded six assists, and Napoli are making the most headway to sign the forward.

“We’ve received several offers for Victor,” Lopez told La Voix du Nord.

“We’ve exchanged many opinions. We get along and he leads an extraordinary life

Gravina: 'Feared season would end'

Gabriele Gravina admits he feared Italy would follow France in ending its season early and is hopeful there will be a ‘big surprise’ for women’s football.

The Italian campaign resumed last week with the Coppa Italia semi-finals, and Gravina is confident the ‘last piece of the jigsaw’ with regards to fans being let back through the turnstiles will fall into place soon.

“Over 15 million watched the Coppa Italia,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.

Azzurri celebrate 110 years

The Italian national team hosted France on this day in 1910, signalling not only their first international fixture but also the start of a historic rivalry.

The side initially represented the Kingdom of Italy, given the country did not become a republic until 1946.

Despite the green, white and red of the Tricolor flag, they would dress in Savoy blue, representing the colour of the royal House of Savoy, which reigned over the kingdom.

Portugal to resume, Germany wait

While the Bundesliga delays its decision on when to restart, in Portugal they should be given the all-clear to play from late May.

The Portuguese Minister for the Economy announced this evening that the tournament ought to be back on track by the end of this month.

That is because open air training will be allowed from Monday May 4.

The Bundesliga was waiting for the all-clear, but today German authorities decided to postpone the decision until next week in order to avoid a potential second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deschamps: 'I would adopt Juve model'

France CT Didier Deschamps has revealed he would adopt a similar model to the one used by Juventus if he was coaching in club football.

The World Cup 2018 winner spoke to the French newspaper L’Equipe about the current emergency.

“It’s a very complicated period, families are in mourning, others await news about loved ones who are fighting for their lives,” Deschamps told L’Equipe. “It’s truly terrible and the suffering of all these people makes me sad.

Balotelli: 'I'd like Napoli move'
