Mandorlini: 'Full Verona emergency'

Verona injury crisis deepens

Giampaolo Pazzini could be out for three weeks, while Luca Toni, Artur Ionita and Romulo had surgery today.

Verona are in the midst of an injury crisis and still looking for their first win of the Serie A season.

Toni went under the knife today to help stabilise his knee ligament, though the club assures it won’t alter the original prognosis of two months out.

Coach Andrea Mandorlini says Giampaolo Pazzini is 'very driven' for Hellas Verona and asks for midfield reinforcements.

The Mastini dispatched Foggia 3-1 in yesterday's Coppa Italia game, showcasing their striking duo of Pazzini and Luca Toni.

“We missed a few goals, but the main thing was winning and we did that,” said Mandorlini after the game.

“Our attitude was positive and we had several chances.

“The difference in leagues made itself clear. Pazzini and [Samuel] Souprayen did very well.

'Dzeko changes Serie A balance'

Hellas Verona striker Giampaolo Pazzini believes Roma's new signing Edin Dzeko 'changes the balance' in the race for the Scudetto.

Toni 'evaluating Verona future'

Capocannoniere Luca Toni will “evaluate my future with Verona” next summer, by which point he’ll be 39 years old.

The veteran hitman was still more prolific than anyone else last term, topping the scoring charts alongside Inter’s Mauro Icardi with 22 goals.

“The last two seasons have gone well and I did important things in the Verona jersey, first coming second and then top of the Capocannoniere charts,” Toni told Sky Sport Italia.

Pazzini nets in Verona defeat

Giampaolo Pazzini got his first goal for Hellas Verona, but it was during a 2-1 friendly defeat to Serie B side Trapani.

The former Milan striker earned and converted a penalty just three minutes into the game.

Hellas dominated the first half-hour, but struggled to make it count and fell away as time wore on.

Trapani first equalised through Montalto, then hit the crossbar and secured victory through Coronado.

Luca Toni did not take part, as he is training separately to reach peak fitness.

Pazzini fired up for Verona

Verona President Maurizio Setti reveals how he signed Giampaolo Pazzini – thanks to a Luca Toni family get-together.

“I am incredibly fired up and with this enthusiasm we’ll do great things,” Pazzo told fans.

“I thank the President and hope together we’ll be able to have many satisfying moments.”

The striker was a free agent after his contract with Milan expired and was presented as a new Hellas Verona player on Friday.
