Montolivo to be released?

Riccardo Montolivo could be released by Milan, but it’s claimed he wasn’t informed until the last minute that he wouldn’t be going to the U.S.A.

The Rossoneri announced their squad for the pre-season tour yesterday, and the Italian international was excluded for technical reasons.

Essentially that means that Coach Gennaro Gattuso and the club hierarchy are happy to let him leave the club, and the final year of his contract could be terminated.

Montolivo to Werder Bremen?

Werder Bremen are reportedly considering a swoop for Milan midfielder Riccardo Montolivo.

According to Fussballeck, Montolivo is a ‘strong’ candidate to replace Borussia Dortmund-bound Thomas Delaney in Bremen’s midfield.

Although the former Italy international has a year left on his Milan contract, reports suggest he could part with the Rossoneri as early as this summer.

The 33-year-old started just 12 Serie A games last season and also has a German mother.

Milan in for Augustinsson?

Multiple reports are linking Milan with Werder Bremen left-back Ludwig Augustinsson.

Ricardo Rodriguez has played in almost all of the Rossoneri’s games this season, so they need an alternative on that flank.

This morning both Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport are reporting that Augustinsson has been identified as a target.

The 23-year-old played against Italy for Sweden in the World Cup play-off, and Bremen would demand around €15m to sell him this month.

Cagliari close in on Caldirola?

Cagliari are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Werder Bremen defender Luca Caldirola.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, Cagliari have agreed terms with Caldirola and now only need to negotiate a fee for the centre-back.

The 26-year-old was part of the Italy’s squad that reached the Final of the 2013 European Under-21 Championship, where they lost to Spain.

He went on to leave Inter for Bremen, but his time in Germany has been plagued by injuries and a lack of first-team opportunities.

Diego: ‘Rejected Bayern for Juventus’

Diego reveals he rejected “a dream offer” from Bayern Munich and another from Real Madrid in order to join Juventus.

The Brazilian joined the Bianconeri from Werder Bremen for €24.5m in the summer of 2009, but after an encouraging start to his career in Turin he tapered off and spent just a single season in Italy.

“At the time I’d received a dream offer from Bayern, even better than Juventus,” Diego explained to Sport BILD.

Inter join Origi race

Inter have joined the race to sign Belgium international Divock Origi on loan from Liverpool, claim TMW.

The 22-year-old is on the market, as he was not even in the squad for two of the five games so far this season.

If they push for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar – who has been replaced by Keita Balde Diao tonight – then Origi will be moved on.

Olympique Marseille are said to be the favourites for Origi, followed by Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Sampdoria, Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen.
