Hamsik for new Napoli deal?

Marek Hamsik’s representatives have met with Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis to discuss a new contract for the player.

The Slovakian has been a Partenopei player since 2007, when he signed from Brescia.

The 29-year-old is also the club’s captain and, according to respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, talks between the two parties took place on Thursday over the player’s long term future in Campania.

'Napoli, Hamsik chose to stay'

Marek Hamsik's agent says the player 'already had the chance to leave Napoli, but chose to stay'.

The Slovakian is pulling his national team forwards pell-mell and, alongside strikers Gonzalo Higuain and Lorenzo Insigne, is doing the same for the Partenopei.

“Marek has a relationship of deep respect [with Coach Maurizio Sarri],” agent Juraj Venglos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “In his new position he finds himself well and he sees himself there in the future.

Hamsik fires Slovakia to Euros

Napoli’s Marek Hamsik got a double, as Slovakia confirmed their place at Euro 2016.

The Slovakians only needed to match Ukraine’s result to be sure of sealing a spot in the tournament, and secured a nervy 4-2 win.

Hamsik opened the scoring following a pass from Vladimir Weiss, who later provided assists for Adam Nemec and Robert Mak.

The Repre seemed to be cruising to France, but were made to sweat by second-half goals from Mario Mutsch and Lars Gerson. However, captain Hamsik put the result beyond doubt with a fourth in injury time.

Sizzling Napoli can win Scudetto

If Napoli can keep this up, look for them to contend for the Scudetto, writes Vincent Van Genechten.

Back in 1991, Michael Jackson released the song ‘Remember the time.’ Almost 25 years later, Maurizio Sarri should smile hearing MJ sing “Do you remember the time…?” It was only a couple of weeks ago that the Napoli Coach was under serious scrutiny. His Partenopei gained only two points in their first three league games and proved to be extremely vulnerable defensively. Diego Maradona even called his appointment a mistake.

Benitez: 'Hamsik not like Bale'

Rafa Benitez takes back a comment about Napoli's Marek Hamsik being better than Real Madrid's Gareth Bale, and discusses Inter and Mateo Kovacic.

The Blancos Coach was interviewed during the Spanish TV broadcasts COPE and Ser, and he went back on the signing of Kovacic to Real.

“I knew enough about him,” he said. “I already wanted to sign him for Napoli. He’s a player with a great future.

“About that comment on Hamsik being better than Bale, I did say that.

Napoli leave out Hamsik, Insigne

Napoli have left Lorenzo Insigne and Marek Hamsik out of the squad to face Legia Warsaw.

The Vesuviani will take on the Polish side in the Europa League tomorrow, but will have to do it without two of their key men.

Insigne has been excluded as a precaution after going off with a knee injury against Juventus, while Elseid Hysaj and Hamsik will also remain in Italy.

Young defender Sebastiano Luperto has been included in the squad, along with more familiar names like Gonzalo Higuain.

Hamsik: 'Napoli better than Benitez'

Marek Hamsik sees victory over Juventus as a sign of how much Napoli have improved since Rafa Benitez left.

The Partenopei lost 3-1 home and away last season against the Bianconeri, beating them on penalties in the Italian Super Cup after a 2-2 draw.

Last night Maurizio Sarri’s men ran out 2-1 victors at the Stadio San Paolo with Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain on target.

“We put what the Coach asked for on to the pitch,” Hamsik told Rai Sport.

It’s reported Napoli rejected Inter’s €20m offer for Manolo Gabbiadini, but would’ve sold Marek Hamsik to Juventus for €35m.
