Inzaghi targets Serie B records

Benevento coach Filippo Inzaghi has targeted Didier Deschamps record in Serie B and claimed his stint at Milan helped him: “It gave me the belief that I could be a coach.”

The Stregoni sit 20 points above Crotone ahead of the resumption and Inzaghi’s men are unbeaten since a 4-0 defeat to Pescara on October 26, 2019.

Benevento’s away record has been remarkable and Inzaghi has been looking to break the previous records when his team prepare for the return to action.

Foggia hails rebirth of Benevento

Sporting director Pasquale Foggia has claimed the resumption of Serie B provides the rebirth of Benevento: “Finally we see the light again.”

Yesterday, Lega Serie B President Mauro Balata confirmed that the second tier in Italy will resume from June 20, parallel to the top tier, whilst the Lega Pro is considering play-offs and play-outs.

Benevento ready to resume training

Serie B leaders Benevento are ready to resume group training from Monday after all their players and staff tested negative for COVID-19.

The medical protocol agreed this week for contact training was valid not just for Serie A, but also B and C teams.

While Serie C clubs have already voted not to continue the 2019-20 season, as most of them are in no condition to keep to the strict protocol, Serie B are ready to get back on the field.

Benevento: 'We're tracking Llorente'

Serie B side Benevento are ‘tracking Fernando Llorente,’ confirmed their director of sport. ‘He’d represent the top choice for us.’

The Witches were running away with the Serie B title when the coronavirus pandemic forced a shutdown and are already looking to next season in the top flight.

Along with coach Pippo Inzaghi, they are seeking some big names to make a splash in Serie A, including Napoli striker Llorente.

Vigorito: 'I feared they would take our merit away'

Benevento President Oreste Vigorito confessed he ‘can’t wait’ to celebrate promotion to Serie A with everyone involved with the club.

The Stregoni sit 20 points above second-placed Crotone in Serie B and have been fighting for the resumption of the championship and their right to play in Serie A next term.

“They really don’t want me to leave football. I have always trusted in the work of the institutions and their ability to take account of the sporting merits and common sense,” he told OttoChannel.

Bergomi: 'I had coronavirus'

Former Inter hero Giuseppe Bergomi has revealed he had coronavirus whilst working as a TV pundit and confessed he ‘underestimated’ the disease.

The former Italy international admitted to having tested positive for antibodies after worrying about his ‘sense of smell’ and revealed he ‘couldn’t sit down due to strong pain in my back’.

Benevento plotting Giovinco return?

Al-Hilal Riyadh forward Sebastian Giovinco has been linked with a return to Italy and Serie B leaders Benevento.

The former Juventus and Parma forward moved to Saudi Arabia in January 2019, after having spent four years with Toronto FC in the MLS, and could head back to Italy after one and a half season in the Saudi Professional League.

Journalist Nicolò Schira claims Beneveto are working to bring him back to Serie A, as the Streghe currently sit 20 points clear at the top in Serie B.

Benevento planning for Serie A

Benevento are planning for life in Serie A and are linked with Diego Rosa from Gremio, reportedly working with Juventus to get a deal across the line.

Journalist Nicolò Schira claims the Streghe have targeted the Brazilian starlet ahead of the transfer market this summer and could work in synergy with Serie A leaders Juventus.

The 17-year-old has played twice 11 times for Brazil’s Under-17 side and has contributed two goals since his debut in the midfield in November 2018.

Inter 'hold Giovinco in high esteem'

Sebastian Giovinco’s brother confessed the Atomic Ant could well return to Serie A for Inter. ‘Beppe Marotta and Antonio Conte hold him in high esteem.’

Giuseppe Giovinco is also a football player at Ravenna and spoke about his brother during an Instagram Live chat with Nicolò Schira.

“Seba only recently changed his agent, but I don’t know much about his future, as we try not to talk about football,” said Giuseppe Giovinco.

Benevento bid for Giovinco too

Sebastian Giovinco’s future remains in the balance, as Serie B side Benevento – on the verge of promotion – are new candidates for his signature.

The Atomic Ant is looking to his next move after joining Al-Hilal in Riyadh, with Parma the favourites ahead of Vasco da Gama or Botafogo in Brazil.

Now Il Mattino newspaper claims Benevento have contacted his representatives to ask about a different Serie A option.

Benevento are currently in Serie B, but guaranteed promotion after streaking 20 points clear of second-placed Crotone.
