Cavani is No 1 danger, says Maldini

Milan legend Paolo Maldini is absolutely certain that Napoli striker Edinson Cavani will pose the biggest threat at San Siro this evening.

Cavani has scored 20 goals in Serie A this season and has turned Napoli into genuine title contenders with his prowess up front.

If Napoli win they will go level on points with the League leaders.

Berlusconi: Tonight we beat the South

Silvio Berlusconi has jokingly referred to tonight's match between Milan and Napoli as one against the South of Italy.

The two sides meet at San Siro in what is being billed as a title decider.

Naturally it has evoked memories of the epic battles between Napoli and Milan in the mid to late `80s.

Speaking at a meeting of the Chambers of Commerce, he turned to Carlo Sangalli and apparently said: "We'll see Milan beat the South."

Pato snubs title for Juventus

Milan's Alexandre Pato has sidelined talk of the Scudetto after beating Napoli. "We're just thinking about Juventus."

The Brazilian inspired the Rossoneri to a 3-0 victory over the Azzurri at the Meazza this evening with a sparkling individual second half display.

Although the victory saw them move five points clear of Inter and six ahead of Napoli, Pato is not getting overly excited.

Win was right result, says Allegri

Massimiliano Allegri insists that Milan deserved the win over Napoli – even if he admits the penalty decision was controversial.

The Rossoneri marched to a 3-0 victory after Salvatore Aronica was judged to have handled in the area. Zlatan Ibrahimovic drove home the resulting penalty.

"It looked like a penalty from the sidelines, but there are a few doubts when you see it on the replays," he noted.

Mazzarri accepts San Siro loss

Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri admits he would have needed a time-out in the second half to salvage anything from the Milan game.

The timid Azzurri crumbled after the break at San Siro as the home side collected a 3-0 win which allowed them to move six points clear of the Neapolitans in Serie A.

Allegri: 'This is a Scudetto battle'

Massimiliano Allegri will not deny Monday's Milan-Napoli is “a Scudetto battle, no matter how hard they try to hide that fact.”

Despite there being only a three-point gap between them, the Partenopei and Coach Walter Mazzarri have been eager to suggest their title chances are non-existent.

“This fixture is a Scudetto battle, no matter how hard they try to hide that fact,” declared Allegri.

Curiously, both tacticians are from the Tuscan town of Livorno.

Cassano: 'Cavani like Ibra? It's a joke!'

Antonio Cassano laughs off comparisons between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani. “Let's not joke around. Ibra is on another level.”

Monday's big match sees leaders Milan welcome second place Napoli in a Scudetto clash and Cassano gave a long interview to the Corriere dello Sport in preparation.

Back to the future

Exactly three decades ago Milan and Napoli were fighting it out for the title. Dave Taylor looks at the similarities today leading up to Monday's big game

At the end of Week 26 on February 26, 1990, Milan topped the table two points ahead of Napoli, while Inter were third, three points behind them. Before this season's Week 27 there are the exact same number of points between these sides, with Napoli still the filling in a San Siro sandwich. Then as now, Inter were the champions, yet while they never got any further, Milan and Napoli kept up the skirmish until the final day.
