Inzaghi set for shock return

Milan's title hopes could be boosted by veteran striker Pippo Inzaghi. "I'll be back in 20 days," he stated.

Inzaghi was expected to be out for the rest of the season after picking up knee ligament damage in a 3-1 win over Palermo last year.

There were even some concerns that he would never play again.

However, after successful surgery and a return to training, the former Italian international wants to contribute to Milan's Scudetto bid this term.

Amelia: 'Chance to beat Leonardo'

Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia concedes the derby is also an opportunity for some players “to beat Leonardo.”

The current Inter Coach was in charge of the Rossoneri last season and now faces his former club in a Scudetto showdown.

“Do we want revenge on Leo? There is a general sense of indifference in the locker room, but I can say that some of my teammates want to beat him,” said Amelia.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be taking part, as his three-match ban was reduced on appeal, but not enough to play on April 2.

Zenit step up Gattuso bid

Gennaro Gattuso is reportedly heading to Russia for a move to Luciano Spalletti's Zenit St Petersburg.

The Milan midfielder has now retired from the Italy squad and his future at San Siro remains unclear.

His contract expires in June 2012 and, as a 33-year-old, the club is unsure whether to offer an extension.

Gattuso had already been close to leaving Milan last summer with offers from England, Qatar and Russia.

According to today's reports in Italy, Zenit Coach Spalletti has asked his side to push on for Rino's signature.

Van Bommel doubt for derby

Milan's preparations for the derby with Inter suffered another blow when Mark Van Bommel left the Holland camp with an injury.

The midfielder, who arrived from Bayern Munich during the January transfer window, was expected to start the Scudetto showdown next Saturday.

The club's medical staff is on high alert, though, as Van Bommel left the Dutch camp early after pulling up during training.

He was unfit for their victory in Hungary and is now also ruled out of the Oranje's upcoming friendly against the same team.

Nocerino: 'Gattuso is my hero'

Palermo midfielder Antonio Nocerino thanked Delio Rossi for his Italy career and revealed “Gennaro Gattuso is my hero.”

The rugged player came off the bench during the 1-0 victory in Slovenia on Friday evening and Thiago Motta scored the winner soon after.

“Maybe it's not a coincidence,” he joked in today's Press conference.

“We played a good game, as we were organised and determined. As for me, I hope I'll have more chances to play and be a part of this squad.”

Thiago Silva: 'Leo will convince Ganso'

As the two San Siro sides battle over Brazilian Ganso, Thiago Silva reveals why he'll choose Inter. “You can't say no to Leonardo.”

The local rivals have made no secret of their interest in bringing 21-year-old playmaker Paulo Henrique Ganso to Serie A, especially after he told Santos this week that he wanted a move to Europe.

Someone in the same position was Thiago Silva, who joined the Rossoneri when current Inter boss Leonardo was in charge.

Julio Cesar: 'Ibra derby would be shameful'

Julio Cesar believes it would've been “absolutely shameful” if Zlatan Ibrahimovic's ban had been reduced to let him play in the Milan derby.

The striker did partially win his appeal against a three-match suspension, but the reduction to two rounds means he is still going to miss the Derby della Madonnina.

“It would've been absolutely shameful if Ibra were allowed to play the derby after what he did,” blasted the Inter goalkeeper, currently on international duty with Brazil.

Allegri: 'Derby more important for Inter'

Massimiliano Allegri is not afraid of the Scudetto showdown. “The derby is more important for Inter than it is for Milan.”

The Rossoneri have seen their lead at the top of the table sliced to just two points and could be overtaken if they lose next Saturday.

“The derby is more important for Inter than it is for Milan,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

“We already won in our last meeting, so a draw could even be enough for us.
