Abbiati: 'Milan will win the title'

Christian Abbiati is convinced Milan have what it takes to win the Scudetto this season.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper freely admits that his side faces great competition, but remains unfazed.

Milan have a three-point cushion at the top of Serie A, but back-to-back draws have allowed the chasing pack to close the gap.

Interviewed in Il Corriere dello Sport, he said: "We are happy. We are conscious of our strength and believe in the final result.

'Milan knew Inter would come back'

Max Allegri claims Milan knew that Inter would somehow fight their back into the title race.

Back-to-back draws in Serie A have allowed Inter to close in on Milan at the top of the table.

Five points is all that separates the two sides and Inter still have a game in hand.

Speaking to Milan News, Allegri said: "The season is long. There are still many games left. I have never seen a team win the League in Italy with two months to spare.

Pato and Thiago Silva 'don't fear Inter'

Milan stars Alexandre Pato and Thiago Silva insist “Inter do not scare us” despite closing the gap.

The two Brazilians returned to Italy after their 1-0 friendly defeat to France last night and are ready to dive back into the Serie A battle.

A place for Pirlo?

The performance against Germany provided plenty of positives and, as Rob Paton suggests, possibly the beginning of the end for one Azzurri hero.

When Cesare Prandelli announced his starting XI in the days before facing Germany, a simple analysis of Daniele De Rossi, Thiago Motta and Riccardo Montolivo in midfield was that they were too industrious to break down the Germans. However, the trio's role proved vital to neutralising Joachim Low's team, with industry key to the heart of the performance as well as ensuring Andrea Pirlo was not missed.

Clubs line up to sign Pirlo

Milan are prepared to risk losing Andrea Pirlo by holding off from talks regarding a new contract.

The 31-year-old's existing deal runs out at the end of the season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Inter, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all interested.

Adriano Galliani has decided to wait until April to discuss the futures of nine Milan players.

Pirlo's agent Tullio Tinti has already sought to open negotiations but to no avail.

Pato prefers centre-forward position

Alexandre Pato has told reporters that he prefers to play as a centre-forward rather than as a second striker.

His comments come amid speculation that he is incompatible with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Speaking while on international duty with Brazil, he said: "I like playing as a centre-forward and I believe that I do well in this role.

"But I do what the Coach asks of me both for Brazil and for Milan.

"Mano Menezes believes in me and Max Allegri does too. Then it all depends on how we play.

Prandelli: 'Let Cassano get on with it'

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has told the Italian media to let Antonio Cassano do his talking on the pitch.

Prandelli is fed up with fielding questions about the Milan playmaker.

Speaking to Rai Sport before this evening's friendly with Germany, Prandelli said: "Enough talking about Cassano. We have to stop it.

"I now want to see the kind of behaviour from Antonio that in my opinion will be extraordinary.

Pirlo agent won't deny Roma report

Andrea Pirlo's agent would not confirm or deny reports of a link with Roma. “It's not the right time to discuss leaving Milan.”

The veteran midfielder's contract is about to expire and there are rumours he could join the all-new Giallorossi with his old Coach Carlo Ancelotti.

“At the moment Andrea is focusing only on the pitch,” agent Tullio Tinti told fichajes.com.

“It's too early to talk about what the future holds, as we are still in February.

Sneijder: 'Inter can catch Milan'

Wesley Sneijder thinks that if Inter beat Juventus and Fiorentina over the next week they can finally catch Milan at the top of the table.

Speaking while on international duty with Holland, Sneijder said: "It's great to be back playing again. Obviously I am not in peak condition after 50 days out.
