Baresi: 'Barcelona like my Milan'

Milan legend Franco Baresi can see similarities with the current Barcelona side. “We both changed the routine of football.”

The Blaugrana smashed Manchester United 3-1 in last night's Champions League Final and many are suggesting they are the greatest club side ever.

“We've got to wait for this team to grow old, otherwise nobody will push past this Barcelona,” smiled Baresi.

He was the captain of Il Grande Milan, the side managed by Arrigo Sacchi that dominated European and World football in the 1980s and early 90s.

Berlusconi's Hamsik pledge

Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has promised to a crowd of Napoli fans that he “will not sign Marek Hamsik.”

Reports have been circulating over the past week that the Rossoneri are targeting Hamsik for their summer transfer campaign.

Patron Berlusconi, who is also Prime Minister of Italy, chose an unusual setting to comment on Milan's football policy.

He spoke to a crowd of people at a benefit concert for his political party in Naples' main square, Piazza del Plebiscito.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani confirmed they are looking for a world-class reinforcement on the left side of midfield.

According to Tuttosport, Arsenal star Fabregas has leapt to the top of the wish-list over the past few days.

It is going to be tough, as the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Inter are all tracking the €35m-rated Spaniard.

Cassano-Montolivo exchange?

Milan committed to Antonio Cassano this week, but still reports increase that he'll go to Fiorentina in exchange for Riccardo Montolivo.

There were question marks over FantAntonio's future after six months at San Siro, most of it spent on the bench.

Only days ago a meeting between Vice-President Adriano Galliani and agent Beppe Bozzo seemed to put the matter to bed.

However, the Corriere dello Sport insists that Cassano could be offered to Fiorentina as part of their bid for Montolivo.

Galliani reveals Spalletti secret

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani says he has no regrets about hiring Massimiliano Allegri after revealing talks with Luciano Spalletti.

"There was a very secret meeting between myself and Spalletti at my house," Galliani said to Sky Sport 24 of the present Zenit boss.

"In order to not get recognised he wore a hat! Then destiny wanted things to go differently. When was this? I can't say…"

While the timing of that meeting remains a mystery, Milan opted to hire Leonardo in 2009 and Allegri in 2010.

Amelia: I'd walk to Roma

Marco Amelia has failed to rule out a return to Roma just days after Milan signed him outright from Genoa.

The Italian giants have decided to keep the goalkeeper after he initially joined the outfit last summer.

However, the 28-year-old, who will again probably be a reserve to Christian Abbiati next term, has opened the door for an immediate switch.

"I am now totally a Rossoneri player, but I would sacrifice the Champions League for the Europa League if the call that I am waiting for arrives," he told Radio Erre2.

Onyewu returns to Milan

Milan have officially welcomed back USA international Oguchi Onyewu from his loan spell at Twente.

The unlucky defender suffered a serious injury as soon as he joined the Rossoneri in the summer of 2009 and never really made it on to the field.

The 29-year-old was loaned to Dutch side FC Twente for six months in January, but the club has opted not to take up their option of a permanent move.

“His contract included an option to buy, but after joint consultations, FC Twente and Onyewu decided not to exercise it,” read a statement.

Nesta: Leonardo is no traitor

Former Milan player and boss Leonardo is not a traitor for joining Inter, says Alessandro Nesta.

The Brazilian coached Nesta at Milan last season, before he left and was later appointed as Nerazzurri tactician on Christmas Eve.

"You leave Milan and then Inter call, are you going to turn them down? It's normal for somebody who wants to be a Coach to boss Inter if they are asked," Nesta told Sky Italia.

"These opportunities don't come around every day. As far as I am concerned, Leonardo is not a traitor.

Ganso and Pastore no, Hamsik maybe

Milan will not sign Ganso or Javier Pastore this summer, but they have left the door slightly open for Marek Hamsik.

That's according to Vice-President Adriano Galliani who discussed transfer matters with journalists this afternoon.

Santos starlet Ganso has been linked in previous months, as has Palermo's creative Pastore, but Galliani noted they were not the type of player he is looking for.
