Van Basten: 'Leo has betrayed Milan'

Milan legend Marco Van Basten thinks Leonardo has betrayed the club by joining heated rivals Inter.

Leonardo accepted the offer to replace Rafa Benitez despite his 13-year history with Milan.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Van Basten said: "It's not right to pass from one family to another. Wouldn't it be a betrayal?

"In my case, yes. I was at Milan for many years. I found myself happy. In my opinion even Inter understand this way of thinking."

Cassano needs to cut down

Antonio Cassano is overweight and needs to cut down if he is to hold down a regular place in the first team at Milan, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 28-year-old flew with the team to Dubai yesterday for a winter training camp after agreeing to leave Sampdoria following a dispute with the club's owner.

Cassano hasn't played for two months and he is seriously lacking match fitness.

La Gazzetta understands the Italy international is 2.5kg overweight and will undergo a specialist training regime over the next month.

Dinho Swansong

Ronaldinho will be the latest star to leave calcio, but Serafino Ingardia feels Milan are right to offload him.

Following a conversation with Milan President Silvio Berlusconi, the notoriously Interista Minister Ignazio La Russa revealed that Antonio Cassano is seen by Il Cavaliere as a direct replacement for Ronaldinho. "We signed him because we are losing Dinho," La Russa was told.

Ancelotti: 'I saw Ronaldinho's decline'

Carlo Ancelotti has praised current Milan boss Max Allegri, but admits he is “not surprised by the decline of Ronaldinho. I saw it coming.”

The Chelsea manager did tend to leave Dinho on the bench during the last year of his tenure, but Allegri has taken a stand by cutting the Brazilian out.

“I am not surprised by the decline of Ronaldinho. I saw it coming,” Ancelotti told the Corriere della Sera.

“His physical condition has always been precarious, while nobody could doubt his talent.

Ronaldinho exit hits snag

Milan would rather keep Ronaldinho until the summer than pay him a lump sum to terminate his contract in January.

It's understood that Brazilian club Gremio have already agreed personal terms with the attacking midfielder who has spent most of this season on the bench in Serie A.

However, the proposed New Year switch can only go through if Milan and Ronaldinho can agree terms over a rescission.

Some reports in Italy on Friday are suggesting that talks have begun, but there is a difference of opinion.
