Lukaku makes Belgium history

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku made history this evening by becoming the first man to score 50 goals for Belgium.

The hitman found the net in a Euro 2020 qualifier against San Marino, then soon after added another to take his total tally to 51.

He achieved this feat in only 83 senior caps for his country.

It was part of a crushing 9-0 victory that mathematically sealed Belgium’s place at Euro 2020.

Atalanta wing-back Timothy Castagne rounded out the scoreline in the final minute.

There are also places for Napoli forward Mertens and Atalanta wingback Castagne, who has made a full recovery from a knee injury.

“I am at Napoli, that is my future,” he told Tuttomercatoweb after Belgium’s 4-0 Euro 2020 victory in San Marino.
