Cataldi: ‘Thank you Lazio’

Danilo Cataldi thanks Lazio for allowing him “a balanced path of growth” and reveals his idols.

The 21-year-old has become a fixture in the Biancocelesti midfield, making four starts in the club’s seven Serie A games so far.

“Lazio gave me a balanced path of growth,” Cataldi explained to VivoAzzurro.

“After coming out of the primavera side, they decided to give me experience in the lower Leagues with a club like Crotone where youngsters have always done well.

Baggio: 'I wanted to die'

Roberto Baggio confessed he was in such agony due to knee injuries that he asked his own mother to kill him.

One of the greatest players who ever lived, it’s remarkable to think what he could’ve achieved without the constant pain.

“When I hung up my boots for the last time, it was like being liberated,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.

“The physical pain was really torture and accompanied my entire life as a player. In the last few years, it had become more than I could bear.

Baggio: 'Penalty still haunts me'

Roberto Baggio reveals how the 1994 World Cup Final penalty still haunts him, but he learned to forgive Arrigo Sacchi.

The Divine Ponytail ballooned the last spot-kick over the bar, handing the trophy to Brazil, having been one of the most impressive players of the tournament.

Zamparini: ‘Vazquez like Baggio’

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini can’t understand why Franco Vazquez doesn’t play for Italy more often, comparing him to Roberto Baggio.

Though he was born in Argentina, the 26-year-old has been capped twice by Azzurri CT Antonio Conte, but remained on the bench for wins over Malta and Bulgaria.

“Vazquez is like Baggio,” Zamparini told Andkronos.

“He provides fantasy, he’s the man for the final ball. I don’t understand why Conte doesn’t play him.

Di Natale: 'Roma, Juve and regrets'

Antonio Di Natale reveals he turned down Juventus and Roma “in a minute,” but hasn’t decided his future.

The 37-year-old surpassed Roberto Baggio in the all-time charts and now has 207 Serie A goals, most of them for Udinese.

He has received offers from America and Dubai, though the club wants him to stay at the Friuli.

“To be honest, I haven’t decided what to do yet,” he told the Corriere dello Sport. “Right now I am focused on finishing this season well, then I’ll rest and reflect on the future.

Buffon: ‘Larsson like Ronaldo, Ibra’

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon brackets Henrik Larsson with Cristiano Ronaldo, and believes in the Champions League.

The Bianconeri number one spoke to Scottish newspaper the Daily Record, and revealed he holds the former Celtic striker in extremely high regard.

“Over my career I have played against some of the best strikers there have ever been,” Buffon explained.

“Both Ronaldos, Roberto Baggio, Zlatan Ibrahimovic – and I can honestly say Larsson is not out of place in those names.

Di Natale: 'Honour to beat Baggio'

Antonio Di Natale said it was “an honour” to beat Roberto Baggio’s record, but won’t discuss his Udinese future.

The veteran striker found the net in today’s 1-0 victory away to Verona, his 206th Serie A strike leaving Baggio behind on 205.

“I am happy for me and for my team-mates,” he told Sky Sport Italia after a spectacular back-heel flick.

Buffon picks dream team
