‘Pirlo a genius, Pogba complete’

Andrea Pirlo is ‘a genius’ and Paul Pogba ‘a complete player’ according to Dino Zoff, but he fears Arturo Vidal will be missed.

The former World Cup winner gave his assessment of the Juventus squad, as well as discussing young goalkeeper Simone Scuffet’s loan to Como from Udinese.

"Pirlo is a genius, [Carlos] Tevez has decided a lot of games, but Vidal has those characteristics that I’ve always appreciated in a midfielder,” Zoff said to Tuttosport.

Scuffet: 'Roma have fast track'

Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet hints Roma have “fast lane access” to his future, denies rejecting Atletico Madrid and is ready for Como.

The teenager made his Serie A debut at the age of 17 and immediately earned comparisons with Gigi Buffon, including calls for him to be included in the 2014 World Cup squad.

However, he barely featured last term and has now been sent out on loan to Serie B side Como.

Scuffet and Bessa join Como

Newly-promoted Serie B side Calcio Como have signed Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet and Inter’s Daniel Bessa.

The tiny club stepped up from Lega Pro this summer and is eager to make a good impression.

Today they officially added Scuffet to their ranks on loan from Udinese.

He had shot to fame when making his Serie A debut at the age of 17, earning comparisons with Gigi Buffon and calls to be included in the 2014 World Cup squad.

U21: New Italy era begins

Gigi Di Biagio has called his first Italy squad of the new Under-21 era for a friendly against Hungary, including Alessio Romagnoli.

The Azzurrini begin a new two-year spell leading up to the 2018 European Under-21 Championships.

They face Hungary in a friendly in Telki on August 12, then host Slovenia in a qualifier at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia on September 8.

Among those included are Roma defender Romagnoli, who is likely to be named captain, Marco Benassi of Torino and Fiorentina striker Federico Bernardeschi.

Scuffet leaves Udinese for Como?

Goalkeeper Simone Scuffet looks set to leave Udinese for Serie B club Como, in spite of interest from Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina.

The 19-year-old was considered one of the most promising goalkeepers produced by Italian football in a long time, but it seems his prospects have been scaled down.

Scuffet was given scant playing time with the Zebrette in the past season and looks set to leave the club on loan.

Giaretta: ‘Di Natale will decide’

Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta isn’t sure whether Sunday’s game with Sassuolo will be Antonio Di Natale’s last at Friuli.

The Italian international was expected to leave the club at the end of the season, but later indicated that he may have changed his mind.

“In agreement with Toto, we want to keep things quiet until the end of the season,” Giaretta revealed, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

Scuffet sends Karnezis to Roma

Udinese confirmed they’re ready to sell Orestis Karnezis to make room for Simone Scuffet and Roma are interested.

The Greek goalkeeper has been guarding the sticks this season and earned links with a move to the Giallorossi.

“Karnezis could’ve gone to Benfica last summer, but Andrea Stramaccioni decided to focus on his international experience,” explained Udinese director Andrea Carnevale on TeleRadioStereo.

Scuffet rejected Atletico

Simone Scuffet has revealed that he turned down a move to Spanish champions Atletico Madrid in favour of remaining with Udinese.

The goalkeeper was the revelation of last season, playing 16 times in Serie A and being earmarked as the heir to Gianluigi Buffon but has struggled for playing time this season, failing to make a single League appearance.
