Godin: 'Players most exposed'

Inter’s Diego Godin has hit out at Italian football authorities for their handling of the coronavirus pandemic. “We were exposed until the last moment.”

Serie A did not officially stop until March 9, when Italy went into full lockdown, with games continuing to be played behind closed doors before then.

Among those to be played behind closed doors was Inter’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus, which Godin claims possibly helped the spread of COVID-19.

The Derby d'Italia from both sides

The Derby d’Italia is one of Italy’s most bitter rivalries. It’s a game seeped in historic controversy, both on and off the pitch.

However, over the years there has been multiple examples of players taking to the field on both sides of the rivalry, and occasionally going directly from Juve to Inter and vice versa.

Marco Tardelli played for Juventus a decade, from 1975 to 1985, winning every trophy imaginable during his time with The Old Lady.

Higuain returns for Lyon and Inter

Juventus have confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain has returned to training and is available for the clashes against Lyon and Inter this week.

Higuain was left out of the trip to SPAL last weekend due to pain in his lower back.

However the Argentine marksman has now returned to training and the club have confirmed that the 32-year-old will be available for the Champions League clash against Lyon tomorrow, and Sunday’s Derby d’Italia against Inter.

Lautaro: Juve defeat a 'stimulus'

Lautaro Martinez has assured that Inter’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus will act as “a stimulus for us to improve”.

Lautaro’s 18th-minute penalty was not enough for Inter, who suffered their first Serie A loss of the season, and the forward accepted his side were not yet on Juve’s ‘level’.

“I feel a beautiful responsibility,” he said after Argentina’s 2-2 draw with Germany.

“I know what it means and therefore I try to give my best in every game and prepare myself as best as I can on the field.

Wanda: Inter missed Icardi!

Wanda Nara has claimed that Inter missed Mauro Icardi during the Derby d’Italia. “He’s scored eight goals in 11 matches against Juventus.”

Icardi is known for his prolific record against Juve, but the Argentine was replaced by Romelu Lukaku over the summer and has since taken up residence at Paris Saint-Germain.

“We watched Inter-Juventus, of course,” Wanda told Tiki Taka.

“In the first half, it seemed that Inter needed to do more.”

Lautaro: Inter have new mentality

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has hailed Antonio Conte for giving the club “a different mentality”.

Martinez has grown into a first-choice attacker for Inter under Conte and scored during their 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

“At the end of the game, Messi gave me his shirt and I was happy about that because it’s now at home,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Inter-Juve set for Serie A record

Inter: Lukaku back for Juve?

Inter could have Romelu Lukaku back as early as this weekend for the Derby d’Italia with Juventus.

Lukaku missed Inter’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona with a muscle strain, but Corriere dello Sport reports he has been training as opposed to resting.

Consequently, the striker’s chances of starting at San Siro are rated ‘high’, but Antonio Conte may choose not to take any risks.

Alexis Sanchez cannot face Juve as he is suspended, but Stefano Sensi was pushed further afield against Barca, playing as a second striker.

Juve lose Danilo to injury

Juventus will be without Danilo for several weeks after the right-back suffered a thigh injury.

Danilo pulled up just 19 minutes into Juve’s 2-1 win at Brescia last night, and tests as per the club’s official website showed “a mild lesion of the biceps femoris of the left thigh.”

The Brazilian only arrived from Manchester City in part exchange for Joao Cancelo and had started the Bianconeri’s last four Serie A games.
