‘Hamsik almost perfect deeper’

Marek Hamsik’s agent has praised Carlo Ancelotti for his ‘almost perfect’ use of the Napoli captain as a deep-lying playmaker.

Hamsik has effectively filled Jorginho’s role at Napoli after the Italy midfielder left for Chelsea, and Martin Petras believes Ancelotti has given his client ‘a new stimulus’.

“Marek still needs to improve in his new role, but it’s inevitable that he will,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss after the Slovak debuted in the position during Saturday’s 2-1 win at Lazio.

No need for Napoli panic

Many Napoli fans have been quick to turn pessimistic following their loss to Liverpool, but Massimo Nuzzo explains there’s no need for the negativity.

Going into the upcoming season, all signs pointed towards Napoli making another challenge for the Scudetto. President Aurelio De Laurentiis did the unthinkable and brought in Carlo Ancelotti to manage the Partenopei, Jorginho was the only player to leave the club, and although their transfer market went quiet after the World Cup, the additions of Simone Verdi and Alex Meret have added to the excitement growing in Vesuvius’ shadow.

The Partenopei picked up 91 points last season, but they still weren’t able to overhaul the Old Lady and win the title.

Carlo Ancelotti has replaced Maurizio Sarri as Coach for the coming season, and another exciting Scudetto race is expected.

“We’re not thinking about them,” Hamsik shrugged when asked about Juve in an interview with Premium Sport.

The Slovakian could have agitated for a move, but new Coach Ancelotti convinced him to remain.

“He called me many times when I was in Slovakia and told me that he wanted me in the team,” Hamsik explained to Sky.

Napoli’s new-look Hamsik

As Carlo Ancelotti prepares to reinvent Marek Hamsik as Napoli’s deep-lying playmaker, Emmet Gates looks at the Slovak’s suitability to the role.

As summer descends over the Bay of Naples, the city feels a fair sense of serenity with Carlo Ancelotti on board. Despite the loss of midfield fulcrum Jorginho to Chelsea, there’s a belief that the good times under Maurizio Sarri will continue. One of the consequences of the Jorginho move, and indeed one of the more interesting facets of the new Ancelotti era, is the deployment of Marek Hamsik as the Italy international’s replacement.

Hamsik has Ronaldo warning

Marek Hamsik has warned Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo that ‘if you’re not Diego Maradona, you can’t win anything by yourself’.

Ronaldo’s transfer to Juve has been described as the biggest made by a Serie A club in years, given his status as arguably the best player in the world.

His arrival has been compared in significance to Napoli’s purchase of Maradona in 1984, but Hamsik made it clear the Argentine could not be surpassed.
