Hamsik: 'Scudetto still a dream'

Napoli captain Marek Hamsik says the Scudetto 'was a dream, and it still is' after the painful defeat to Udinese.

The Partenopei left much of their title hopes in the trodden grass after losing 3-1 to the Zebrette, but the Slovak believed the result came down to self-discipline.

“It was a very nervous match, the team should stay calm and not let the episodes condition the performance,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Italia. “All of the matches are fundamental, including today's. Now we face Verona, and we are forced to win.

Hamsik: ‘My best Napoli’

The Partenopei are currently three points off the Serie A lead in second place and travel to face Udinese as Serie A resumes this weekend.

Benitez 'was ruining Hamsik'

Ex-Napoli director Pierpaolo Marino believes Rafa Benitez “was destroying Marek Hamsik” and reveals an Antonio Di Natale deal.

Hamsik has never disguised his happiness at working under Maurizio Sarri after Rafa Benitez left, where he was sacked by Real Madrid.

“Hamsik is a good lad and Benitez was destroying him,” former director general Marino told Il Roma newspaper.

“He was always played out of position and substituted, his potential was being impoverished and consequently the boy was losing motivation.

Hamsik at Napoli until 2020?

Marek Hamsik will be offered a contract renewal holding him to Napoli until June 2020.

His current deal lasts through to June 2018 and he has been at the club since 2007.

Il Mattino newspaper claims it’ll be practically a lifetime appointment if he accepts a new extended agreement.

The club is ready to propose an extra two years, which would keep him at the Stadio San Paolo until at least 2020.

By that point, the Slovak international would be 33 years old.
