Hamsik: 'Tie is still open'

Marek Hamsik sees an “open” Europa League tie after Napoli lost the first leg 1-0 away to Villarreal.

A late Denis Suarez free kick was the only difference between the sides.

“It’s a shame, as once again we conceded a goal right at the end,” Hamsik told Sky Sport Italia.

Hamsik: ‘Villarreal very strong’

Napoli captain Marek Hamsik warns Villarreal are “very strong” ahead of their Europa League meeting.

Tomorrow sees the first leg of the Last 32 tie at El Madrigal, and the Slovakian international previewed the game on his official website.

“Villarreal are a difficult opponent who we’ve already played four times,” Hamsik wrote.

Hamsik: 'Fans surprised Napoli'

Napoli captain Marek Hamsik thanked the fans for “making us feel like winners” despite the defeat to Juventus.

Around 3,000 supporters greeted the team as they landed back at the Capodichino airport at 2.50am.

“We are sad,” wrote Hamsik on his official website. “We were a step away from maintaining leadership of the table, but we didn’t manage it. Such a shame.

Hamsik: ‘Great game at Juventus’

Marek Hamsik expects a “beautiful evening” when Juventus and Napoli meet in Turin on Saturday.

The Vesuviani are currently two points clear of the Bianconeri at the top of Serie A, and the pair will go head-to-head at Juventus Stadium this weekend.

“It’s nice to be in the history of this club after eight wins in a row,” Hamsik told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Kucka: ‘Milan can finish third’

Chiellini: ‘I’d sign Ibrahimovic’

Giorgio Chiellini names Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the man he’d sign for Juventus, given the chance.

The Bianconeri defender answered fan questions for Tuttosport, and was asked which players he’d like to bring to Turin.

“So I have to steal a job from [Giuseppe] Marotta and [Fabio] Paratici?” Chellini considered.

“Ok, if you want to do a bit of fantasy football I’d take Sergio Ramos [of Real Madrid] for the defence, and Marek Hamsik of Napoli for the midfield.

Hamsik agent: ‘Napoli want Scudetto’

Marek Hamsik’s agent says his client “wants to win everything” with Napoli  “starting with the Scudetto”.

The Partenopei were yesterday confirmed as winter champions for the first time since the 1989-90 season, where they went on to win Serie A.

The Slovakian midfielder has scored in three consecutive games, and his representative believes it’s Hamsik’s best ever season.

“I said when [Rafa] Benitez was there that Marek respected the Coach,” Juraj Venglos explained to Radio Crc.
