Milan take the tactical route

While others splash the cash on household names, Anthony Barbagallo believes Milan have made the most important investment in a real tactician.

Witnessing a seven-time Champions League winner sleep for the last six Serie A seasons has been nothing but tragic for one of Calcio’s titans. With half of the Italian media describing this crisis as a period of mediocrity, some believe, including former coaching legend Arrigo Sacchi, that Marco Giampaolo’s footballing philosophy will steer this Milan side back on the path to prosperity.

'Seedorf not fit for Cameroon'

Cameroon’s sports minister has called for Clarence Seedorf to be released as CT. “He’s not fit for this job.”

Seedorf led Cameroon to only the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations, where they were beaten 3-2 by Nigeria.

That promoted Narcise Mouelle Kombi to lash out at the former Milan man for his poor management of the Indomitable Lions.

“The question of keeping Seedorf at the helm of our national team is there for all to see,” he told CRTV.

Maldini: 'Milan dominated Liverpool'

Paolo Maldini still can’t believe Milan lost the 2005 Champions League Final to Liverpool. “We dominated for 110 minutes out of 120,” but got their revenge in 2007.

The 2005 Final in Istanbul remains a nightmare for Rossoneri supporters, as their team somehow went from dominating 3-0 to 3-3 in the space of six minutes, eventually losing in a penalty shoot-out.

Piatek 'amazed' by Milan stature

Krzysztof Piatek admits he has been left 'amazed' by the sheer stature of Milan as ‘Clarence Seedorf asked me for a photo!’

Piatek has made an instant impact for Milan since his €35m switch from Genoa last month, scoring three goals in his first three appearances for the Rossoneri.

“I’ve scored goals in Serie A, this is the pressure I’ve chosen,” the Poland striker told Foot Truck.

“I must adapt, but I certainly won’t change. I plan to always be the same person and work like before.

Gattuso's last Milan chance

Gennaro Gattuso is about to find out he is just as sackable as any of his Milan predecessors if he doesn't convincingly beat SPAL, writes Daryl Hammond.

One wonders how often both a Coach and youth team boss have been sacked in a week. With Milan Primavera boss Alessandro Lupi shown the door, many think senior boss Gennaro Gattuso may see the same fate should his Milan side secure a less than favourable result against SPAL this evening.

Seedorf 'very lonely' as Milan Coach

Clarence Seedorf claims he felt ‘very lonely’ during his tenure as Milan Coach and hit out at Filippo Inzaghi, who ‘continued to lose yet stayed on’.

Seedorf turned around Milan’s fortunes midway through the 2013-14 campaign, in his first coaching role since retiring as a player, but the Dutchman was passed on for Inzaghi, who lasted the following season despite leading the Rossoneri to their worst Serie A finish for 18 years.

He was given his first job on the bench by Silvio Berlusconi, but he lasted just 22 games and has since had spells at Shenzen, Deportivo La Coruña and now the Cameroon national team.

Giunti: 'Gattuso the new Conte'

Gennaro Gattuso “is the right man for Milan and can be the new Antonio Conte,” said former teammate Federico Giunti.

Rino was given the main job after Vincenzo Montella’s dismissal, bumped up from the Primavera youth team, and has ever since been trying to prove he is more than just a motivator.

He did just that in Friday’s 2-1 victory over Roma, out-smarting Eusebio Di Francesco on a tactical level.
