Vitor Hugo set for Viola exit

Fiorentina defender Vitor Hugo is reportedly unhappy about losing his starting spot since new Coach Vincenzo Montella’s arrival and is ready to move on.

According to calcionews24.com, the 27-year-old is concerned about his lack of playing time, as he has yet to feature under Montella in the four games since the Coach replaced Stefano Pioli.

The Brazilian went from being first choice under Pioli to losing his spot to first Federico Ceccherini, then Vincent Laurini - who was moved from right-back into the centre of defence.

Della Valle warning to Fiorentina squad

Fiorentina patron Andrea Della Valle visited the squad today with a warning. “The club and the city of Florence deserve the utmost effort.”

“The players were reminded of the need to get back to putting in performances worthy of this level, as in January Fiorentina were in the thick of the battle for European football and in the final four of the Coppa Italia,” read a statement.

Montella: 'More Fiorentina regrets'

Vincenzo Montella was again left to rue a strong Fiorentina start, missed opportunities and a comeback as they lost the Coppa Italia semi-final to Atalanta.

Just like last week’s Serie A 2-1 defeat to Juventus, the Viola had opened the scoring in the first few minutes.

“We are here again, with many regrets, as this team plays with heart and soul, but doesn’t convert its chances,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

A step backwards or a genuine opportunity to recapture the golden days? Giancarlo Rinaldi analyses Vincenzo Montella’s return to Fiorentina.

Minestra Riscaldata - they call it in Italy - reheated soup. It is used to describe the return of a former player or manager to their old club and, often, has less than complimentary connotations. Montella: Ajax inspire Fiorentina

Vincenzo Montella insists Fiorentina will have no ‘fear’ when they take on Juventus this weekend and that Ajax are the blueprint for his club.

Juve lost to SPAL last weekend and were eliminated from the Champions League by a youthful Ajax side, while Montella guided Fiorentina to a 4-2 victory over the Bianconeri back in 2014.

“We’ll face a disappointed but fierce Juve,” he said at a Press conference.
