‘Convinced by Samp enthusiasm’

New Sampdoria signing Andrea Ranocchia signed because of the “enthusiasm” of President Massimo Ferrero.

The defender has joined on loan from Inter until the end of the season, and had his first training session with the Blucerchiati this afternoon.

“This is a great group,” Ranocchia told Samp TV.

“It’s definitely worthy of a different position than the current one. I know a lot of the lads.

Montella: 'Samp troubled Napoli'

Vincenzo Montella felt Sampdoria “played on level terms with Napoli, but need to be more determined.”

The Blucerchiati twice tried to get back into the game, but were eventually beaten 4-2 at Marassi.

“The result was decided by many incidents, including the red card,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“We put in a good performance and at times were excellent. Unfortunately you can’t gift a side like Napoli chances and that’s exactly what we did.

Montella won't hold back on Napoli

Cassano: 'I had demons'

Montella: 'Strong Samp performance'

Vincenzo Montella saw “a good performance and real belief” in Sampdoria despite their slender 2-1 defeat to Juventus.

“It seemed to me a good performance and we showed real belief,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

'I hammered Montella to join Samp'

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero discusses his long campaign for Coach Vincenzo Montella and the club's financial situation.

The outspoken businessman managed a coup by signing the former Fiorentina Coach, who was sought after by the likes of Roma and Milan, but he's been given scant credit by the football environment.

“The truth is that people struggle to accept a President who only just started out but who is already enthusiastic and full of positive energy like I am,” he told Tuttosport.

Samp in for Pizarro?

Sampdoria are reportedly looking to bring veteran midfielder David Pizarro back to Serie A.

The 36-year-old worked with Blucerchiati Coach Vincenzo Montella at Fiorentina, but returned to his native Chile this summer with Santiago Wanderers.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that Samp are looking into the possibility of bringing Pizarro back to Italy, a move the player is open to.

Pizarro would have to get out of his contract with Wanderers, and the website reports that Sampdoria are evaluating the potential cost.
