Mancini: 'Acceptable result'

Roberto Mancini felt Inter’s 1-1 draw away to Sampdoria was “an acceptable result” with big misses each.

“We allowed two or three clear chances on the counter in the first half. After the break, with Muriel’s counter the game totally changed and we could’ve won.

“We got a point against an excellent side and this result is acceptable, really,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Icardi: ‘Good relationship with Mancini’

Mauro Icardi discusses the Inter captaincy, and his relationship with Coach Roberto Mancini.

The striker was handed the captain’s armband this summer, after winning the Capocannoniere crown as Serie A top-scorer last season.

“It was a decision made by Mancini, with the consent of the whole club,” Icardi explained to El Grafico in his native Argentina.

“It had the approval of the squad too, of course. It had been spoken about in pre-season, but it wasn’t official until the first Serie A match.

In the first of a two-part blog, Mohamed Nassar analyses three of the potential Scudetto contenders.

Fiorentina

If there is a dark horse running in this season’s race, you can bet that it’s the Viola. With the exception of the fracas with Inter over the ill-fated move of Mohamed Salah, the Tuscans have largely flown under the radar all summer long. Their appointment of Paolo Sousa as Coach seemed a reasonable, but not spectacular, choice and their reinforcements lacked any big marquee signings.

Mancini: 'Defeat changes nothing'

Roberto Mancini insists the 4-1 defeat to Fiorentina “changes nothing” and explained his unusual Inter tactics.

“These are games that start badly,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We conceded after four minutes, were caught on the counter and then there was the red card. It was impossible to come back from that.
