Strakosha: 'Lazio believe in Scudetto'

Thomas Strakosha has claimed coach Simone Inzaghi ‘changed the mentality’ at Lazio, who have ‘started to believe’ in winning the Scudetto.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been an ever-present in Serie A for the Biancocelesti this season, keeping nine clean sheets in the process, but reveals he has struggled with an injury of late.

“I have a small problem, but I’m on my way back,” Strakosha told Lazio’s official channels. “The situation has improved and now we are only waiting for the date of the resumption.

Lazio offer new Inzaghi deal

Lazio are ready to offer Simone Inzaghi a new three-year contract worth €2.5m per season plus bonuses, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The coach is currently tied to the club until June 2021 on a salary of circa €2m per year, which is already an improvement on the €1.3m he was earning up until June 2019.

He has taken the club to remarkable achievements in recent years, winning the Coppa Italia, two Italian Super Cups and steering Lazio into second place in Serie A.

Cragnotti: '20 years on from Lazio Scudetto'

It is 20 years to the day since Lazio won the Scudetto, as then-President Sergio Cragnotti looks back over an incredible campaign and reveals Paul Gascoigne was ‘a marketing more than football move.’

Current coach Simone Inzaghi was in Sven-Goran Eriksson’s squad when they took the Serie A title on May 14, 2000, their first in 26 years.

“That was the greatest emotion one could feel and totally unexpected, because nobody thought before that game that we’d win the Scudetto,” Cragnotti told the Corriere dello Sport newspaper.

Report: Lazio have started playing three-a-side matches in training

Group training is scheduled to resume on Monday but the Corriere della Sera claims Lazio have already started playing 3v3 in training.

The collective training has not been allowed by the current measures, but the newspaper claims Simone Inzaghi has overseen matches with three players on each side at the end of the sessions.

Inzaghi expects 'difficult' run-in

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi claims ‘everything will change’ ahead of the resumption but insists the Aquile ‘will try to be ready’ for the Scudetto battle.

Inzaghi’s men sat one point behind Juventus in Serie A before the forced break, fighting for their third title in history.

Two months later, the season is yet to resume but the teams have returned to individual training before supposedly stepping up the preparations with group training from Monday.

Inzaghi remembers 'extraordinary' Lazio

Simone Inzaghi remembers Lazio’s ‘unique and incredible’ Scudetto season as a player and confessed it would make him 'proud' if he could emulate the feat as coach of the Aquile.

In 1999-00, Lazio won their second Scudetto in their 100th season and the former striker Inzaghi was the leading goalscorer with his 19 goals across all competitions when the Biancocelesti picked up an historical double.

Lazio target Colombian Suarez

Lazio are reportedly chasing the signature of Watford loanee Luis Suarez, who has bagged 17 goals in the Spanish Segunda Division this term.

Currently on loan at Real Zaragoza, the centre-forward has helped the club to second in the Spanish second tier this term, and Lazio are allegedly prepared to offer the €10m required to release him from the contract with the Hornets.

Corriere dello Sport writes that the Aquile are in contact with Gino Pozzo’s club, looking to find an agreement to bring the Colombian to the Olimpico this summer.

Luis Alberto: 'Lazio until 2025'

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto has confirmed that he will extend his contract until 2025 after a season that he regards as ‘the best of my career’.

Luis Alberto has played a key role in Lazio’s Scudetto charge, providing 13 assists in 25 Serie A appearances.

Despite talk of a return to Sevilla, the 27-year-old says he is ready to commit his future to the Aquile.

“We’re negotiating and I believe I’ll renew until 2025,” he revealed on Instagram.

Keita open for Lazio return

Monaco forward Keita Balde Diao said he will ‘never close the door’ on Lazio and has revealed he keeps in touch with former coach Simone Inzaghi.

The Senegalese attacker arrived in the Italian capital from Barcelona in July 2011 and stayed until 2017, when Monaco picked him up for €30m.

Keita contributed 31 goals and 22 assists in his 137 games for the Biancocelesti and will not exclude the chances of a return to the Olimpico.
