Lazio hope to sign with Inzaghi this month

Lazio are reportedly prepared to offer coach Simone Inzaghi €3m a year to continue at the Olimpico.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Aquile have been discussing a new deal with Inzaghi for months and still haven’t reached an agreement with the successful coach.

Inzaghi helped Lazio win the Coppa Italia in 2018-19 and mounted a Scudetto challenge for most of 2019-20, eventually qualifying for the Champions League for the upcoming campaign.

Immobile 'impressed' by Inzaghi

Lazio forward Ciro Immobile has been impressed by Simone Inzaghi’s development as a coach and said the tactician has a ‘certainty that convinces’ the Aquile.

Inzaghi took over as caretaker at Lazio in April 2016 but was swiftly confirmed as the permanent coach at the Olimpico.

The Biancocelesti have won the Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana with Inzaghi at the helm and were involved in the Scudetto battle in 2019-20, eventually finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League.

Reports: Pirlo to be new Juventus coach

There are growing reports Andrea Pirlo will be announced as the new Juventus coach tonight or tomorrow, having sacked Maurizio Sarri.

Sky Sport Italia claim a decision could be made as early as tonight, at most tomorrow morning, a theory shared by the Corriere di Torino and Corriere della Sera.

According to Juventus reporter Gianluca Momblano, Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and others, Pirlo was spotted attending a meeting this evening at the Continassa headquarters.

Conceicao new candidate for Juve job

Another new name has emerged for the Juventus bench after Maurizio Sarri was fired, with links for FC Porto coach Sergio Conceicao.

Sarri was formally dismissed this afternoon, as winning the Scudetto was not enough, considering he lost the Italian Supercup, the Coppa Italia Final and went out of the Champions League at the Round of 16.

Mauricio Pochettino remains the favourite for the Juventus job after Maurizio Sarri’s sacking, with Simone Inzaghi, Zinedine Zidane and Andrea Pirlo other candidates.

Sarri was formally fired this afternoon, an inevitable reaction after the Champions League Round of 16 exit at the hands of Lyon.

Report: Juventus contact Pochettino

Juventus have already contacted Mauricio Pochettino to ask if he’ll replace Maurizio Sarri in Turin, claim Sportitalia, after their Champions League exit.

Influential transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà claims the club is in full flow to find a new coach following the defeat on away goals to Lyon in the Round of 16.

It’s claimed Pochettino is not only the hot favourite, but an initial contact has already been made to see if he is up for the challenge.

Simone Inzaghi pin-points the moment when Lazio’s season went off the rails and his regrets extend to a 3-1 defeat at Napoli. ‘We wanted to at least finish third.’
