Conte: 'We deserved more against Napoli'

Antonio Conte has claimed Inter ‘deserved more’ from their cup tie with Napoli, stressed Romelu Lukaku ‘must improve’ and confirmed that Stefano Sensi will be out for the rest of the Serie A campaign.

Inter face Napoli in Serie A tomorrow and the tight schedule has made it difficult to recover and keep the high intensity in recent games. But Conte has found some positives too.

Fassone: 'Juve leverage to win'

Former Milan CEO Marco Fassone has claimed Juventus have the upper hand on Napoli due to their ownership and infrastructure, claiming the Partenopei must build their own sports centre to compete in the long run.

Fassone spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli and discussed the different leadership styles between the Azzurri patron Aurelio De Laurentiis and Bianconeri chief Andrea Agnelli.

“Juventus have the longest-running owner of our League,” Fassone told Radio Kiss Kiss. “They have an owner that will invest massively when he must do so.

Gravina is worried for 2020-21

The FIGC President Gabriele Gravina admits he’s worried for the next season, as Serie A still waits ‘to understand the new protocol’.

Serie A has resumed under strict measures and continuous testing of everyone involved, but Gravina hopes to avoid the same ‘demanding’ protocol for 2020-21.

“The teams must start the preparation very soon and we are late in knowing the new procedures to follow,” Gravina told Rai Gr Parlamento. “We don’t know the state of emergency or for how long it will be extended.

A Scudetto without splendour

Juventus finally won their ninth successive Scudetto on Sunday night but, as Livio Caferoglu explains, there wasn’t much cause for celebration.

Juventus should be on cloud nine after clinching their ninth consecutive Serie A crown. Their fans won’t be present to join in on the title celebrations but, even with them there, this won’t have felt like a Scudetto worth cheering about. That’s not to say the Bianconeri don’t deserve credit for making more history, exposing the laughable lack of competition, but that is precisely what allowed them to get away with doing the bare minimum. For a club that prides itself on setting the bar high, its standards seem to be dropping.

Italian coaches dominate for a decade

For the first time in Serie A history, the Scudetto has been won by an Italian coach for 10 consecutive seasons.

The last foreign coach to lift the trophy in the Peninsula was Jose Mourinho during the Treble campaign of 2009-10.

He was followed by Max Allegri at Milan in 2010-11, then the Juventus streak took hold from 2011-12.

Antonio Conte was at the helm for Scudetto celebrations in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Allegri then picked up where he left off, becoming the first coach to win five consecutive Serie A titles from 2015 to 2019.

Inzaghi: 'Lazio deserve more than fourth'

Simone Inzaghi explains why ‘we saw the Lazio that we knew before’ in a 5-1 win at Verona and they ‘deserve more than to finish fourth.’

The Biancocelesti caught Atalanta in third place and put Ciro Immobile well clear at the top of the Capocannoniere charts with a hat-trick in the 5-1 victory away to Verona.

Banega sparks COVID controversy

Just days before Sevilla face Roma in the Europa League, Ever Banega caused controversy by partying without a mask in a COVID-19 hotspot.

The midfielder was caught on camera by Onda Cero dancing at a nightclub in Valencia.

This particular club has been linked with 12 cases of Coronavirus, so Banega’s presence when he is meant to be following safety protocols sparked controversy in Spain.

Roma are due to play Sevilla in a one-off match on neutral turf in Germany on August 6.

Inter prepare Esposito loan

Inter are expected to sign Sebastiano Esposito to a new contract and loan him out to Torino or Parma, but reject Atalanta’s attempt to purchase the striker.

The forward only turned 18 three weeks ago and is under contract at San Siro until June 2022.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Calciomercato.com and others, the plan is to extend that deal so that his future is committed to Inter, then loan him out to get regular playing time.

Perisic key to Alexis Sanchez?

Inter could try offering Ivan Perisic to Manchester United in exchange for Alexis Sanchez, as Bayern Munich won’t take up their option on the Croatian.

Alexis has been on loan, but his parent club is refusing to let him stay on past the Europa League Round of 16 tie with Getafe.

Negotiations have so far failed to make a difference, but Sport Mediaset believe a solution is in the offing.
