Line-ups: Leonardo makes changes

Leonardo adopts a different approach with Goran Pandev, Houssine Kharja, Samuel Eto'o and Giampaolo Pazzini against Cagliari.

Inter kick off at 19.45 UK time at San Siro and are without the injured Wesley Sneijder, Diego Milito, Lucio, Walter Samuel or suspended Cristian Chivu.

In Sneijder's absence, Leo has chosen a 4-2-3-1 system with Pandev, Kharja and Eto'o supporting Pazzini as the lone centre-forward.

Yuto Nagatomo also starts at left-back, moving Javier Zanetti into midfield with Thiago Motta.

Donadoni forgives the referee

Roberto Donadoni feels Cagliari did as well as they could and refused to criticise the referee for Inter's goal.

The Sardinians were only beaten by a controversial Houssine Kharja strike, as Andrea Ranocchia was offside.

“It happened, so there's no point going back over the incident now. We could talk about that forever and there would probably still be some disagreement.

“We played a good game, but were missing that little bit of belief that would've allowed us to really get Inter in trouble. That is our only regret.

Leonardo 'did not expect' a struggle

Leonardo admits he “honestly did not expect” such a hard slog to get the better of Cagliari this evening.

“We scored the goal early on and I got the feeling we'd control the game, but we risked conceding at the end and really struggled to close down Cagliari, who have many quality players,” he said of the 1-0 victory.

“We are tired, but I don't want that to be an alibi. We've got to wipe the idea of fatigue out of our minds, as there's still a marathon ahead of us.

Ranocchia: 'It was my goal!'

Andrea Ranocchia claims he got the final touch on Inter's goal and even Houssine Kharja says “give it to him.”

There is a great deal of confusion over the winner against Cagliari, as Kharja's shot took a deflection on its way into the net, but it's not clear if Ranocchia or Michele Canini got the touch.

“Yes, I touched the ball,” Ranocchia told Inter Channel. “I only got a slight touch, but that was enough. The important thing is that we won and got all three points to continue our Serie A push.”

'Matri is more complete than Pazzo'

Cagliari President Massimo Cellino thinks Juventus made the right decision in signing Alessandro Matri rather than Giampaolo Pazzini.

Juventus had long been admirers of Pazzini, but couldn't afford the Sampdoria striker and he joined Inter during the January transfer window instead.

Beppe Marotta then turned his attention to Matri, agreeing with Cagliari to loan the player until the end of the season with a view to a transfer worth €18m.

Sneijder and Lucio miss Cagliari

Wesley Sneijder and Lucio have not been called up for Saturday's match against Cagliari at San Siro.

Both players are carrying knocks and Inter don't want to run of the risk of further complications.

Leonardo is mindful of next week's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

It's his first match in Europe for Inter since he took charge in December.

Inter beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League Final last season.

Leo isn't thinking about Milan

Inter boss Leonardo insists he isn't thinking about former club Milan even though they are closing in on the League leaders.

Last night Adriano Galliani made light of the fact Inter have won eight of their last 10 games in Serie A by telling reporters that they are still only two points closer to Milan than at Christmas.

Inter currently lie five points adrift of Milan and hope to make up more ground when they face Cagliari tomorrow.

Inter face Pandev transfer inquest

Inter directors including Marco Branca have been deferred to the Disciplinary Commission for the contentious Goran Pandev transfer.

Pandev was in the middle of a law suit with Lazio trying to have his contract terminated when he signed for the Nerazzurri in January 2010 as a free agent.

Lazio have always stated the move was illegal, as their court case had not yet been completed at the time.

Today Inter directors Branca and Rinaldo Ghelfi were deferred to the Disciplinary Commission along with agent Carlo Pallavicino.

Zanetti stands up for Gattuso

Inter's Javier Zanetti defended Gennaro Gattuso after the Milan man's clash with Joe Jordan. “These things can happen.”

Gattuso has been charged with gross unsporting conduct and risks at least a one-match ban after going head-to-head with Tottenham assistant manager Jordan following the final whistle of Tuesday's Champions League game.

“I saw that he was rather irritable, but these things can happen in a very tense match,” said Inter captain Zanetti.

Ganso: 'I'll play in Milan next season'

Santos starlet Paulo Henrique Ganso says he will play under the Madonnina next season, hinting more at Inter than Milan.

The 20-year-old playmaker is widely regarded, along with his teammate Neymar, to be one of the stars of the future in Brazil.

Interviewed by Il Corriere dello Sport, he said: "Next year I will play in Milan.

"Leonardo often calls me because he wants me at Inter. Leo is a wonderful person.

"He was a great footballer and I hope he gets a lot of satisfaction out of being a Coach.
