Leonardo: 'Juve-Inter to be a battle'

Leonardo's first Derby d'Italia is “part of a long history and rivalry. When there's a battle, Inter can be counted on, but I'm bored of Calciopoli.”

Sunday night sees the two arch rivals come face to face, so talk of the Calciopoli scandal and fate of the 2004-05 and 2005-06 titles has been on the front pages again.

“I think anything I could say about Juventus-Inter has already been said,” noted the Brazilian.

Krasic: 'I'm not afraid of Inter'

Juventus hero Milos Krasic feels fired up and “not afraid of Inter” after wearing the captain's armband for Serbia.

The winger was their stand-out player at the start of the season, but has seemed tired in recent weeks.

“I am so happy to have worn the captain's armband, as I thought Marko Pantelic would be chosen,” he said of Wednesday's 2-0 international friendly win in Israel.

“I would like to follow in the footsteps of Dejan Stankovic as captain of Serbia.”

Del Neri: 'Juve on a par with Inter'

Gigi Del Neri insists “the facts prove we can play on a par with anyone, including Inter,” as Juventus prepare for “an intense, emotional and fair game.”

The Derby d'Italia on Sunday evening sees the two arch rivals clash and the Nerazzurri are on far better form.

“The facts prove we can play on a par with anyone. It's not my opinion,” said the Coach.

“We are in good shape now, have recovered some players, so we have a larger and more balanced squad available to us.

Stankovic out of Juventus trip

Dejan Stankovic, Lucio and MacDonald Mariga have not recovered in time to take on Juventus.

Inter have released the squad list for tomorrow night's trip to Turin and there are several important absentees.

It was hoped Stankovic or Lucio would be back in the side after long injury lay-offs, but they have been left behind.

Also missing out are the injured Diego Milito, Walter Samuel and suspended Cristian Chivu, who continues his four-match ban for punching Bari defender Marco Rossi.

Marchisio recovers to take on Inter

Claudio Marchisio, Simone Pepe and Vincenzo Iaquinta have recovered enough to be in the Juventus squad against Inter.

The Bianconeri are still dealing with injury problems that have ruled out Armand Traoré, Paolo De Ceglie, Fabio Quagliarella and Leandro Rinaudo.

Coach Gigi Del Neri does have some players back from the treatment table, although it's unclear if they are in a position to start.

Marchisio was the biggest doubt and is included in the squad along with Pepe, Iaquinta and Momo Sissoko.

Sneijder hits out at Benitez

Inter's chief playmaker Wesley Sneijder has criticised Rafael Benitez for trying to change his position.

Benitez was sacked in December after demanding that the club make four or five new signings.

He has since complained about not being able to control some of his players or the club's medical staff.

Interviewed by Algemeen Dagblad, Sneijder said: "I got frustrated under Benitez… He wanted me to play as a striker.

"Leonardo works in the same way that Jose Mourinho did. I feel better now."

Barzagli expects Derby spectacular

Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli expects this weekend's Derby d'Italia against Inter to be a very important game.

The 29-year-old centre-back has yet to play in the biggest fixture of the Italian calendar, as he only joined Juventus in January after spending two and a half seasons with Wolfsburg.

Interviewed on the Juventus Channel, Barzagli said: "It will be a big game. Inter went through a difficult period at the start of the season, but they have rediscovered their best form since the arrival of Leonardo and are back in the title race.

Sneijder back to his best

Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder scored a wonder goal in Holland's friendly with Austria last night.

The 26-year-old playmaker got the opener in a stunning 3-1 win.

Sneijder dribbled past two Austrians, played a give and go on the edge of the box and then volleyed the ball in off the cross bar.

"I felt as if I hadn't been out injured for 50 days," he said.

"I would like to score as beautiful a goal as that in a non-friendly match."

Moratti responds to Benitez

Inter President Massimo Moratti has responded to claims made by Rafa Benitez that the doctors and fitness coach at the club impeded his work.

Benitez told the BBC's Football Focus on Saturday that he couldn't control everything and was shocked to discover two players doing weights without his permission before the Club World Cup semi-final in December.

The Spanish tactician was sacked later that month and replaced by Leonardo.
