Mihajlovic: 'It hurts to lose like this'

Sinisa Mihajlovic feels Fiorentina “did not deserve to lose” against Inter. “It hurts to suffer a defeat like this.”

The Viola had fought back after Michele Camporese's own goal, but Giampaolo Pazzini tapped in the 2-1 winner.

“I prefer to win and play well, but I think we got half of that right this evening,” commented Mihajlovic.

Del Bosque defends Benitez

Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque has defended Rafael Benitez following his departure from Inter.

Benitez's contract was terminated in December after he fell out with Inter President Massimo Moratti.

He won the Italian Super Cup and the Club World Cup during a six-month spell at San Siro.

Interviewed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Del Bosque said: "Benitez is a great trainer. His career speaks for itself.

"His only fault is that of not having had reinforcements, but rather only injuries and the injuries are certainly not his fault.

Leo rejects claims Inter are 'dead'

Leonardo has rejected claims that Inter's title challenge is "dead" after Sunday's defeat to Juventus in the Derby d'Italia.

Inter lost 1-0 but arguably should have equalised in the 89th minute when Samuel Eto'o hit the bar from just a few yards out.

Speaking ahead of Inter's midweek clash with Fiorentina, Leonardo said: "The game in Turin was balanced. Criticising Eto'o is out of this world. I won't make a drama out of it.

Matri dreamt about derby goal

Juventus striker Alessandro Matri admits that he dreamt about scoring the winning goal in last night's Derby d'Italia against Inter in Turin.

The 26-year-old struck for the third time in black and white following his arrival from Cagliari in January, looping a header up and over Julio Cesar.

Remarkably, he also played for much of the game with an injury, putting everything on the line to ensure that Juventus sealed a 1-0 victory.

Maicon: Inter must start again

Inter full-back Douglas Maicon has played down last night's defeat to Juventus and insists that the Italian champions can still retain their Scudetto.

Leonardo's side lost 1-0 to Juventus in the Derby d'Italia, but came close to equalising when Samuel Eto'o hit the bar after 89 minutes.

"They deserved the victory, but we pushed until the end and in the second half we massacred them, forcing Juventus to play in their own half even with 10 men behind the ball," Maicon said.

The 34-year-old who has scored more than 400 goals, including a record 15 at World Cups, claims his body has let it be known that the time has come to stop.

Other influences on his decision might be the actions of Corinthian fans who blamed Ronaldo for their exit from the Copa Libertadores.
