Sneijder responds to United talk

Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder says Manchester United are a great club, but insists he is happy in Italy.

The Holland international playmaker has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.

Napoli to bid for Chivu

Napoli will attempt to bolster their defence with a bid for Inter stopper Cristian Chivu, according to reports in Italy.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has already set about strengthening his team's backline.

He brought in Victor Ruiz from Espanyol in January and has already agreed a deal for Estudiantes centre-back Federico Fernandez in June.

Napoli feel Chivu would be ideal for their three-man defence given his ability to play in the middle and on the left-hand side.

Inter to loan out Coutinho?

Inter are considering sending Philippe Coutinho out on loan to get experience next season, according to Sky Italia.

The 18-year-old Brazil international playmaker started the season strongly, but is no longer guaranteed first team football.

Inter are planning to sign Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo this summer and if that were to happen competition for places would only increase.

The latest reports claim Coutinho could be used as a bargaining chip in negotiations with Fiorentina for Montolivo.

Stankovic suffers thigh strain

Dejan Stankovic's season could well be over after tests confirmed a second degree thigh strain.

The Inter midfielder pulled up during the 2-1 win over Lazio and the official club website announced test results this afternoon.

“He suffered a second degree strain in his left thigh. The midfielder has already undergone the first physiotherapy session.”

This type of injury usually requires at least three weeks on the sidelines, so Stankovic could well have played his last game of the season.

Cordoba aims for Coppa Italia glory

Inter defender Ivan Cordoba acknowledges that his side are unlikely to retain the Scudetto, but insists they haven't given up hope of winning the Coppa Italia.

Inter currently lie second in Serie A, eight points behind League leaders Milan with four games of the season still remaining.

However, they do hold a 1-0 first leg lead in their Coppa Italia semi-final with Roma.

"It will be very difficult to take the Scudetto away from Milan, but we have to win all our remaining games," Cordoba said.

'Montolivo will go to Inter'

Respected director of sport Pier Paolo Marino believes Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo will join Inter at the end of the season.

Montolivo has stalled on signing a new contract at the Artemio Franchi and Fiorentina have grown resigned to the fact that he is leaving.

"I believe that, like Pantaleo Corvino said, when a cycle ends it's right to look for fresh strengths," Marino said.

"Already four or five months ago I underlined my opinion in this regard: Montolivo will go to Inter.

Moratti on Inter's 'show of strength'

Inter President Massimo Moratti hailed his side for beating Lazio. “It isn't easy to react with 10 men, but their character overcame fatigue in a show of strength.”

The Nerazzurri looked to be in dire straits when Lazio took a 1-0 lead and Julio Cesar was sent off, but they fought back to win 2-1 and recaptured second place.

“It isn't easy to react with 10 men, but the team gave a great response,” said the patron.

Coutinho could quit Inter

Inter's Brazilian youngster Philippe Coutinho is reportedly considering a move in the summer in a bid to find first team football.

Under Rafa Benitez, attacking midfielder Coutinho featured regularly in his first few months at San Siro, contributing two assists from 15 games during the Spaniard's reign, before making his international debut for Brazil in October.

However, since Leonardo's arrival at the club, the 18-year-old has only made four appearances in four months.

Samuel set for return

Inter defender Walter Samuel is reportedly close to a return to first-team action after six months on the sidelines with serious knee-ligament damage.

The 35-year-old has been recuperating since undergoing surgery on his right knee damaged during the November 6 clash with Brescia, and has recently returned to first-team training in a bid to see game time before the season is through.

Such is his progress, it is thought he could be included in the squad for Week 35's trip to Cesena, which would be his first involvement under Leonardo.

Viviano told to snub Inter

Bologna captain Marco Di Vaio has warned teammate Emiliano Viviano against joining Inter at the end of the season.

Viviano is part owned by the Nerazzurri and there are rumours that he could be signed outright by the San Siro giants during the summer.

However, fearing that he may have to play a back-up role to Julio Cesar, Di Vaio has urged the goalkeeper to consider his options carefully.

“It's my belief that Viviano would make a grave error in joining Inter,” the former Parma and Juventus striker noted.
