Genoa: 'Inter close to Ranocchia deal'

Inter “are close to a deal for Andrea Ranocchia,” confirms Genoa President Enrico Preziosi, who also makes a bid for Juraj Kucka.

Now that new Coach Leonardo is in place, the Nerazzurri look to make their first signing of the January transfer window.

“Inter have the problem of needing to replace Walter Samuel following his injury, while we have to give away Ranocchia,” Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.

“They already own half of Ranocchia and he is already destined to join them, but he was meant to make the move in June.

Inter offer Biabiany for Sanchez?

Inter could be prepared to give up Jonathan Biabiany in order to beat the competition for Udinese's Alexis Sanchez.

A whole queue of clubs are lining up for ‘El Nino Maravilla', including Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid.

The Nerazzurri hope to leapfrog the rest by offering €15m cash plus talented young striker Biabiany.

This deal would suit Udinese, who could make the most of a pacey and versatile forward like Biabiany who has already impressed in Serie A and the Champions League this season.

Defending Rafa

Rafa Benítez has gone, but should he take all the blame and is Leonardo the man to take his place? Dave Taylor believes it's no on both counts.

With the Club World Cup won it seems that President Massimo Moratti only kept Rafa Benitez on to ensure Inter went to Abu Dhabi without any more distractions.

Some say he deserved all he got, while others pleaded with him to stay. Just witness the banners at the airport when Inter arrived back from the UAE last week with the Cup. Yet the facts were stacked against the Spaniard almost from the start. The squad clearly needed an injection of new blood, but Rafa never got the money he was originally promised.
