Extreme idea: Serie A all in Rome?

An extreme plan has been floated which would see all the remaining Serie A games played and teams hosted in the Rome area, which has been less hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

The league ground to a halt due to the crisis and there are several options for resumption, including start dates on May 20, May 28 or even in June.

According to La Repubblica, there is also a more extreme solution which would see all 20 teams camped out in and around the Rome area, playing their games there too to minimise travel and contact with those outside the club.

Mancini can still be an Azzurri legend

Roberto Mancini can still write his name in the history books for Italy as a coach, but Tommaso Adami reminds us of why he failed as an Azzurri player.

There is nothing more disappointing for the public than seeing a world-renowned forward fail to deliver for the National team. Throughout the years, Italians have both enjoyed mediocre strikers turn into Azzurri legends and great attacking players not live up to their names. The latter has been the case of many and, notably, of one of the most skilful and talented forwards of the late 1980s and 90s, Roberto Mancini.

Gasperini guarantees profits for Atalanta

Atalanta spent just €93m for their current squad sitting fourth in Serie A, qualifying for the quarter-finals in the Champions League and making a profit of €71.82m on player trading under Gian Piero Gasperini.

Buying low and selling high, that sounds like a strategy for the stock market, but Gasperini’s Atalanta has proved that it can work to build a big brand in football too.
