'Napoli players love Sarri style'

Jose Callejon has heaped praise on the two Napoli Coaches he has worked under, Rafa Benitez and Maurizio Sarri.

The 29-year-old's Spanish compatriot Benitez was responsible for signing him from Real Madrid in 2013, and he has since enjoyed a successful period at the San Paolo.

"I was very happy [at Real Madrid], but I felt I needed to take a step forward in my career and be a first team regular," Callejon told Spanish daily AS.

‘Benitez didn’t want Higuain’

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis reveals Rafa Benitez wanted Leandro Damiao instead of Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentinian striker joined the Partenopei from Real Madrid, and has gone on to score 64 goals in 116 games, but the club’s President reveals the move almost didn’t happen.

“It was our [the club’s] intuition to take him to Napoli,” De Laurentiis told Radio 24.

“Benitez wanted to take Leandro Damiao, but after meeting with the Brazilian’s agent we had doubts.

‘Juventus, Inter too afraid’

Former Italy CT Cesare Prandelli believes Juventus and Inter both showed “fear” in the Derby d’Italia.

The pair played out a 0-0 draw at San Siro last night, and while the ex-Fiorentina Coach believes both with challenge for the Scudetto, he nonetheless sees problems.

“Even the greats have fear,” Prandelli wrote in his column for Calciomercato.

“That’s how we can summarise the match played between Inter and Juventus, which showed that both teams are still searching for the right formula.

Jorginho 'was leaving Napoli'

Jorginho “was very close to leaving Napoli this summer, but now he’s very happy,” confirmed his agent.

The creative midfielder was often benched by Rafa Benitez and found his form under Maurizio Sarri in a 4-3-3 formation.

“He is doing very well and is very happy. We spoke after the 4-0 over Milan and he was so enthusiastic, as he didn’t expect such a strong victory,” agent Joao Santos told gianlucadimarzio.com.

Benitez: 'Hamsik not like Bale'

Rafa Benitez takes back a comment about Napoli's Marek Hamsik being better than Real Madrid's Gareth Bale, and discusses Inter and Mateo Kovacic.

The Blancos Coach was interviewed during the Spanish TV broadcasts COPE and Ser, and he went back on the signing of Kovacic to Real.

“I knew enough about him,” he said. “I already wanted to sign him for Napoli. He’s a player with a great future.

“About that comment on Hamsik being better than Bale, I did say that.

Real Madrid in for Pjanic?

Reports suggest Real Madrid are tracking Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic, with a view to a summer transfer.

The Bosnian international has been in fine form for the Giallorossi this season, contributing three goals and three assists in his six Serie A games so far.

According to Calciomercato, Real Madrid have sent scouts to observe the 25-year-old in Roma’s last two Serie A matches, at home to Carpi and away to Palermo.

Jorginho agent: ‘If Benitez had stayed…’

Jorginho’s agent reveals the Napoli midfielder would have left had Rafa Benitez stayed on as Coach.

The Spaniard left this summer to join Real Madrid, and his representative admits that his client is better off under Maurizio Sarri.

Marek Hamsik sees victory over Juventus as a sign of how much Napoli have improved since Rafa Benitez left.

The Partenopei lost 3-1 home and away last season against the Bianconeri, beating them on penalties in the Italian Super Cup after a 2-2 draw.

Last night Maurizio Sarri’s men ran out 2-1 victors at the Stadio San Paolo with Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain on target.

Ancelotti: 'Juve can challenge Spaniards'

Carlo Ancelotti believes Juventus can win the Champions League and “threaten the Spanish hegemony.”

The Bianconeri lost the Final to Barcelona last season, but this time round there are five Liga teams involved because Sevilla qualified as winners of the Europa League.
