Ibrahimovic on Galaxy retained list

LA Galaxy have included Milan target Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their retained list for the upcoming MLS campaign.

Ibrahimovic has been heavily linked with Milan in recent weeks, but the Swede is nonetheless one of 16 players Galaxy intend to keep for the 2019 season.

Among those leaving the Los Angeles outfit are former Lazio defender Michael Ciani and ex-Roma left-back Ashley Cole.

Cole made only 16 appearances in a year and a half at Roma, before joining Galaxy in January 2016.

Ashley Cole joins LA Galaxy

As expected, ex-Roma defender Ashley Cole has signed for MLS club LA Galaxy.

The decision had been in the air for several weeks and he terminated his contract by mutual consent after 18 months in Rome.

“Ashley is one of the world’s most successful defenders and has played at the highest level of competition throughout his career,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena.

“He can provide our defence with valuable experience. We look forward to his contribution to our club this season.”

Official: Cole leaves Roma

As expected, Ashley Cole has terminated his contract with Roma by mutual consent and is heading for MLS.

The full-back had been left out of the squad since pre-season and was not part of the club’s plans, including under new Coach Luciano Spalletti.

This afternoon Roma released a statement confirming Cole’s contract had been terminated by mutual consent.

“The 35-year-old English defender joined Roma in July 2014 following spells with Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Cole and Roma agree break-up

Ashley Cole and Roma have reportedly found an agreement to terminate the contract and let him fly to Los Angeles Galaxy.

The full-back was never part of former Coach Rudi Garcia's plans this summer, and the new signing of Luciano Spalletti for the Giallorossi bench did little to change the scenario.

According to Il Tempo, Cole and Roma have found an agreement for the mutually consensual recision of the player's contract.

Report: Cole set for LA Galaxy

Reports in the United States claim Roma’s Ashley Cole is close to joining MLS side LA Galaxy.

The former England international has been frozen out by the Giallorossi this season, and hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football.

According to CNN journalist Kristan Heneage, the defender has agreed a deal to join LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer.

The move would see Cole link-up with former England teammate Steven Gerrard, with the 34-year-old set to become the latest European veteran to move to America.

Ashley Cole for LA Galaxy

Roma outcast Ashley Cole is close to joining Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy.

The full-back has been frozen out of the squad since the summer, as he is not part of Rudi Garcia’s plans.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Cole has found himself a new club and is preparing to sign for the Galaxy.

His contract with Roma is due to expire in June 2016, so he’d likely either be released early or sent out on loan.

Garde: ‘Villa want Cole’

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has admitted interest in Roma outcast Ashley Cole.

The left-back has been frozen-out of the Giallorossi squad, and is not registered to play in Serie A or the Champions League.

It was suggested this week that he could join Andrea Pirlo and New York City FC in MLS, but it appears a return to England could also be on the table.

“Every good player is interesting for me and Ashley is a good player,” Garde told the Guardian.

Cole set for New York City?

Roma outcast Ashley Cole could join Andrea Pirlo at New York City, according to reports.

The English defender joined the Giallorossi in the summer of 2014, but after a poor first season in Serie A has not been included in the squad this term.

The exclusion is a clear symbol that the former Chelsea man is not wanted in the Eternal City, and he has been linked with a return to the Premier League.

However, according to Sky, New York City in MLS is now Cole’s most likely destination, with former teammate Patrick Vieira on the bench.
