Monchi: 'No EDF at Sevilla'

Sevilla director of sport Monchi announced former Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco “will not come here” after reports of a reunion.

Monchi quit Roma in protest after the club sacked Di Francesco in February, bringing in caretaker manager Claudio Ranieri.

There were multiple suggestions the tactician was in negotiations to take on the Sevilla bench for next season.

“With regards to Di Francesco, he will not come here,” Monchi told Estadio Deportivo at an event leading up to the Copa del Rey.

Monchi 'calls Castillejo to Sevilla'

Samu Castillejo is reportedly being tracked by Sevilla, but Milan want around €25m for the winger.

According to Calciomercato.com, Sevilla sporting director and former Roma man Monchi is a great admirer of the 24-year-old and has already contacted the player’s representatives.

Castillejo joined Milan from Villarreal last summer for a reported €25m and earns a €1.5m salary at San Siro.

Despite starting just eight Serie A games this season, his versatility has seen him used in a variety of roles by Coach Gennaro Gattuso.

Report: Di Francesco to join Sevilla

Former Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco has reportedly agreed terms to take over at Sevilla, where he’ll reunite with Monchi.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, EDF worked out the details of a two-year contract for a new experience in Spain.

He would need to terminate his contract with Roma first, as although he was fired in early March, he is still being paid.

Director of sport Monchi quit his role at Roma in protest at the decision to sack Di Francesco and almost immediately returned to Sevilla.

Ranieri: 'Roma sold their spine'

Claudio Ranieri criticised Roma for their handling of the Daniele De Rossi situation, selling “the spine of the team” and warned they won’t be back in the Champions League for a while.

The Coach has already said he will leave his caretaker role in the summer and this is seemingly giving the lifelong Giallorossi fan the freedom to criticise his current employers.

Monchi: I admire EDF, but...

Monchi has insisted that while he ‘admires’ Eusebio Di Francesco, the former Roma boss ‘isn’t Sevilla’s first choice at all.’

Reports surfaced earlier on Tuesday that Di Francesco had been offered the chance to reunite with Monchi at Sevilla, but the ex-Roma sporting director played down the speculation.

Roma live to fight another day

The Giallorossi keep their Champions League hopes alive with a vital point against Inter, but Vilizar Yakimov wonders if they'll achieve this sporting miracle.

How are Roma still in the Champions League race? That’s a very good question with a very complex answer. It's fitting that going into the Easter weekend, Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov said it was a "miracle" they were still in contention at all.

The Giallorossi’s inconsistency has been the only consistent thing about them all season and yet, if they somehow managed to weather the storm in the second half against Inter, Claudio Ranieri’s men would’ve topped Milan and climbed up to fourth place.

Di Francesco closer to Sevilla?

Former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco is reportedly moving closer to a reunion with Monchi at Sevilla.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Di Francesco has already visited the city of Sevilla, attended the club’s recent derby against Real Betis and had a meeting with Monchi.

The pair worked together at Roma between 2017 and 2019 but left after the side’s Champions League exit to Porto last month.

Monchi: 'No Roma regrets'

Former Roma director of sport Monchi admits results “weren’t what I expected, but I have no regrets.”

Monchi left the Giallorossi in March, less than 24 hours after Coach Eusebio Di Francesco was sacked, and returned to his old job at Sevilla.

“I came back here earlier than I expected. The results at Roma weren’t what I expected, but I have no regrets,” he told reporters in Spain.

“The best night was when we eliminated Barcelona from the Champions League, the worst was the defeat to Porto.
